Hey everyone, the MTC is going great, my P day is today (Wed), I will only have 1 other Pday in the MTC, I am to fly out Feb 6, to New Hampshire, so far it has been really crazy, kind of sad 1 week has gone bye, and not a single letter from anyone, some of the other elders got many many letters, oh well.

If it asks for a district, it is 37c, as it is free, and unlike an email/snail mail, it is emailed to the MTC, and they PRINT, and I get it that day in the mail call, I am only allowed to write on P days, so I won't be writing a lot, as Pday is crazy, the food is not what everone made it out to be, but it is still good, lessons are going good, and I have seen a few people I know, or who know me.

It has been really crazy as 2 members of my district have gone home already, but it is good. The Spirit is strong, and the promises God has made are worth the service.

Last Night Jeremy was set apart for his mission, after which he promptly ran to the bathroom to throw up. Poor guy was really sick. We aren't sure if he had caught the nasty flue bug going around, if he ate something not so good, or if it was just nerves.

This morning I helped Jeremy (p.s. I am his older sister Julia) pack his bags, and before we knew it we (Jeremy's Family) were all saying goodbye, taking pictures, and watching other missionaries escort him into the MTC.

1. Your service begins the day you check into the MTC. Remind your family that complete separation from loved ones is part of the sacrifice that families and missionaries contribute to the work. For this reason, you should ask your family and friends not to attempt to see or visit with you while you are at the MTC, not even during your temple walks or at other places near the MTC.
2. All missionary mail must come through the US Mail or commercial delivery services. These services should not be used to send pizzas, fast foods, ice-cream, or any items that will spoil if they are not refrigerated within 24 hours. Missionaries are not called out of class to receive packages, nor do they have access to a refrigerator. For security reasons, we cannot accept any items delivered by hand.
3. Communication with family can be done through your missionary email account on your weekly Preparation Day. Communication to you from friends should be through letters mailed to the above address. We cannot accept telephone calls for missionaries.
4. Families and friends should not visit missionaries as they depart to their field of labor, whether at the MTC or at the airport.

(here is a outline of my talk I gave today, some of it I filled in best of my memory)

I was talking with my boss the other day, and I said one of my favorite things about having Church at 11:30, you have the whole morning to write your talk..... But of course I prepared early... I wrote it last night.

I was giving a choice of topics, and I chose "Inviting all to come unto Christ" for me this is the embodiment of my goal as a missionary. In Preach My Gospel, the question is asked "What Is My Purpose as a Missionary?" it says the purpose of a Missionary is to "Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end."

That will be the focus of my talk, Inviting others to come unto Christ, I will brake this down into 4 areas, learning Who we are coming to, learning why we are coming, how we can invite others, and to what end ?

(1st) Before you can come unto Christ, you need to know Who Christ is in a talk given by President Ezra Taft Benson in 1987 titled “Come unto Christ” He states.
The major mission of the Book of Mormon, as recorded on its title page, is “to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations.”

The honest seeker after truth can gain the testimony that Jesus is the Christ as he prayerfully ponders the inspired words of the Book of Mormon.

Over one-half of all the verses in the Book of Mormon refer to our Lord. Some form of Christ’s name is mentioned more frequently per verse in the Book of Mormon than even in the New Testament.

He is given over one hundred different names in the Book of Mormon. Those names have a particular significance in describing His divine nature.

Let us consider some of the attributes of our Lord, as found in the Book of Mormon, that show that Jesus is the Christ. Then let us confirm each of those attributes about Him with a brief quote from the Book of Mormon.

He is Constant: “The same yesterday, today, and forever” (2 Ne. 27:23).

He is the Creator: “He created all things, both in heaven and in earth” (Mosiah 4:9).

He is the Exemplar: He “set the example. … He said unto the children of men: Follow thou me” (2 Ne. 31:9, 10).

He is Generous: “He commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation” (2 Ne. 26:24).

He is Godly: He is God (see 2 Ne. 27:23).

He is the Healer: The “sick, and … afflicted with all manner of diseases … devils and unclean spirits … were healed by the power of the Lamb of God” (1 Ne. 11:31).

He is Humble: “He humbleth himself before the Father” (2 Ne. 31:7).

He is Joyful: “The Father hath given” Him a “fulness of joy” (3 Ne. 28:10).

He is our Judge: We “shall be brought to stand before the bar of God, to be judged of him” (Mosiah 16:10).

He is Just: “The judgments of God are always just” (Mosiah 29:12).

He is the Light: “The light … of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened” (Mosiah 16:9).

He is Loving: “He loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life” (2 Ne. 26:24).

He is the Mediator: “The great Mediator of all men” (2 Ne. 2:27).

He is Mighty: “Mightier than all the earth” (1 Ne. 4:1).

He is Miraculous: A “God of miracles” (2 Ne. 27:23).

He is Omnipotent: He has “all power, both in heaven and in earth” (Mosiah 4:9).

He is our Redeemer: “All mankind were in a lost and in a fallen state, and ever would be save they should rely on this Redeemer” (1 Ne. 10:6).

He is our Savior: “There is none other name given under heaven save it be this Jesus Christ … whereby man can be saved” (2 Ne. 25:20).

He is Truthful: “A God of truth, and canst not lie” (Ether 3:12).

(2nd), Now that we know what attributes Christ embodies, and who he is, we need to know why, we are to come unto him, what have the Prophets told us about coming unto Him, what has He told us about Coming unto Him?

Mormon teaches us to Come, for he stands “with open arms to receive you” (Morm. 6:17).

Jacob shared with us why he labored, "Wherefore we labored diligently among our people, that we might persuade them to come unto Christ, and partake of the goodness of God, that they might enter into his rest" (Jacob 1:7)

Nephi also taught us, "He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile." (2nd Nephi 26:33)

President Eyring shared with us, The words “come unto Christ” are an invitation. It is the most important invitation you could ever offer to another person. It is the most important invitation anyone could accept. (March 2008 Ensign)

So Christ is waiting for us, to come follow him, his arms are open, and waiting to receive us in.

(3rd) How do we invite others to come unto Christ ? we bear testimony of Him, that He is the Son of God, He is our Savoir and He is the only begotten of the Father, and only by following Him can we be saved, and by bearing our testimony, we also come closer to Christ.

(4th) Now that we know who Christ is, and what we have been commanded to do, (come unto him), and we know that we invite others to come unto him by bearing our testimony, the final thing we need to know is, what promises Christ has made, with us, if we but follow him.

Moroni said “Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, … and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you” (Moro. 10:32).

Jacob taught "Come, for “he will console you in your afflictions, and he will plead your cause” (Jacob 3:1).

President Ezra Taft Benson has said: “That man is greatest and most blessed and joyful whose life most closely approaches the pattern of the Christ. This has nothing to do with earthly wealth, power, or prestige. The only true test of greatness, blessedness, joyfulness is how close a life can come to being like the Master, Jesus Christ. He is the right way, the full truth, and the abundant life.” (Ensign, Dec. 1988, p. 2.)

I love what Jacob said, he will plead your cause, who would not want Jesus to be on their side ? it brings comfort to know if we but follow Him, that Christ is willing to plead our cause.

In closing I would like to share a story, that helped grow my testimony of the power of Prayer, and missionary work (the following is a rough outline of what I said), as some of you know, about 2 years ago, I did not have a job, I was looking, and searching everywhere I could not find one, and in my interviews with Bishop Smith, he said you need to find a job to save up money for your mission, I told him I was looking but I could not find a job because being home schooled meant I did not have a GED, and everyone had lots of college applicants who had GED's, many places said they would loved to hired me, but could not, he asked if I had prayed for help. I had not, I went home, and was talking with my sister, and she said, God has told you to go on a Mission, hold him to his end of the deal, ask for a job.

So I did, I prayed and basically said, I know I should serve a mission, if this is what I am to do, provide me a job to do it. A stack of applications later, I got a call, finally a call, and I was hired at Jamba Juice, I moved in with my sister in Taylorsville, and worked there for a year, when it came time for her to move, I needed to move back to Orem, I tried to get a transfer to the Orem Jamba, I could not, I was still short of funding, and knew I must start the search up again for a job, once again I knelt, and prayed and said I am trying to do Thy will, provide a way for me.

The week of the move, my boss came to me, and said I feel bad that you can't get a transfer, if you can meet me in American Fork, I can take you to work (20 minute drive), once again my prayer was answered, I want to thank all those who have helped me in life, my Family, Boss, Coworkers, Seminary teachers, and Church leaders, thank you, I want to bear my testimony that Christ listens, He cares, He is the Son of God, He will provide a way, and a Mission is where I do belong.

Hard goodbyes, and an awkward night.

It all started the other day, well it does not really start then, but this story does.

Wednesday my sister in law Tiffany called, saying she was driving home, and wanted to stop by and spend the night, gladly we said yes, and started cleaning, she showed up around 8 pm, my nephews came running in, giving me a big hug saying uncle Jeremy we love you.

I played with them, made some food, all around we had a blast, I then went down stairs and watched one of my favorite movies, Aladdin and the king of thieves, they then went to bed, and I made the adults food, talked till 1am, then I went to bed.

I woke up early like normal, but my nephews soon woke up, and gave me a hug saying we will miss you, I then realized, I will not see them for two years, maybe a lot longer, in this mindset I got ready to go to SLC, for work, I get up to my work (Jamba Juice) and it was one of my favorite coworkers last day, it was hard, I liked her, to see her go was hard, when I realized that I might never see her again after this weekend, she invited me to a small party of coworkers, who were throwing her a good bye party.

I was going to tell her I liked her, but I chickened out, I finally got the guts to tell her, so I sent her a message on facebook, basically telling her, just in case I don't get a chance to tell you at the party, the reason I joked about you going on all those dates, and having all those boyfriends, was because I am jealous of them...

So I go to this party, my brother dropped me off, it is a small get together really, she was not there yet, and I notice everyone else has a boyfriend there, I am like well this is a bit awkward, so when I heard she was almost there, I felt a little sick to my stomach, then someone said, she was bringing a date, I started feeling very sick, when she showed up, and was like everyone this is my boyfriend, I felt horrid, I then ended up talking with her boyfriend, we talked for about 20 minutes talked about History mainly.

And then it was time to go, she asked, so how I got there, I said my brother dropped me off, and I was going to find a ride, or walk, she was like I could give you a ride (I was VERY HAPPY, chance to tell her face to face) I said SURE, she then said, well my boyfriend is the one with the car, let me double check with him..... (at that point I felt really sick) So I got a ride home from him, it was awkward to say the least, small truck, my coworker who I like, her boyfriend and me, on the way home a tire went semi flat, we pulled over to a gas station, he got out, and went to refill the tire with some more air.

So we had an awkward moment in the car as he filled the tire, talked about college, and all that good stuff, he got back in, we drove the last 2-4 minutes to the house I am saying at (my brother Adam's apartment) then they dropped me off, over all really strange night, I came home, wrote most of this, and then went to bed.

Saudi Arabia WE WANT NUKES ALSO!

Well, the Saudis just came out saying, if Iran can have nukes, we want them also!

A senior Saudi Arabian diplomat and member of the ruling royal family has raised the spectre of nuclear conflict in the Middle East if Iran comes close to developing a nuclear weapon.
Prince Turki al-Faisal, a former Saudi intelligence chief and ambassador to Washington, warned senior Nato military officials that the existence of such a device "would compel Saudi Arabia … to pursue policies which could lead to untold and possibly dramatic consequences".

California spends 4 BILLION to execute criminals!

So I was reading the blaze tonight, when I saw this article "Should California Abolish the Death Penalty to Save Taxpayer Dollars?" here is a quote from it.

When it comes to ongoing values debates, the death penalty is one issue that rates right alongside abortion and gay marriage for its ability to incite controversy and heated chatter. As states like California grapple with deficits and accumulated debt, discussions regarding the cost of the death penalty versus lifetime imprisonment are beginning to emerge.

So I am thinking, wow, 4 BILLION! they must be executing people all over the place, some perspective Utah's ENTIRE BUDGET for 2011 is 11 Billion, so 1/3rd of Utah's Budget to run en ENTIRE state, used to execute people, so I am thinking 100,000s must have been executed, much to my shock, and horror, with 4 BILLION they were able to execute........................ 16 people.

For a Cost of OVER $300,000,000 PER Criminal!

I was reading the Blaze tonight, and saw this article and I was very happy to see Muslims, standing with Jews (where are the Christians ???) I heard Glenn Beck talk about how Anti-Semitic this bill is, all my coworkers I have talked about this with, have been outraged.

So this past weekend, after work, I went to the GOP Convention Afterparty "PHIL-POT-LUCK" BBQ! It was hosted by Morgan Philpot at his house, it was a blast, met old friends, brought good food and all around totally enjoyable for everyone, my little sister had friends to play with, my Dad had some Biochemist to talk Energy/Oil with, my Mom talked with everyone, and I had a blast catching up with old friends, making new friends, and talking to friends I found via FB for the first time.

So the other night, my mom was shopping at Wal-Mart, and we saw that the Deli Chickens were on sale, $2.50 a Chicken, my mom grabs four of them, we get home, and she asks me to debone them, so I figured if I was already gonna do it, might as well blog about it.

We ended up getting 6 Ziploc bags of Chicken for our food storage, and we also had 2 meals before we put them in bags!

Fathers day, a tribute to the father figures in my life.

Today I was thinking about all the Father figures in my life, and how they have helped me so much, first and foremost, is my Dad.

While we do butt heads, he is the greatest example in my life, a and I am thankful, for all he does, thanks dad, it was rather ruff for him today, the Primary got up, and sung for all the Fathers, and this was the first time in 30 years, that he did not have a kid singing to him.

I also think of my Heavenly Father, and all he has given me, he gave me a family that loves me, he gave me a chance, he gave me a job this past year, he gave me this world, to enjoy, and all the sites, and sounds of it.

This song sums up how I feel to my Father in heaven.

I also want to thank all my leaders in Young Men's, there are many of them, let me name a few of the most influential, my Deacons quorum adviser, Jerry Glenn, my Teachers quorum adviser Scott Jennings, and my Priest quorum adviser Scott Allen, and my Bishop, David Smith, they encouraged me to become who I am, and helped me on the way to becoming an Eagle Scout, and a Duty to God holder.

I also want to thank some of my most influential Seminary teachers, who were like Fathers to me, Brother Lowe, Brother Harris, and Brother Frost, and Brother Johnson, these four teachers, helped me along the way, one of the greatest moments was when Brother Lowe gave us this quote

It has helped me so much in the years that have come.

I would like to thank my Trek "father" or Pa, Brother Madsen, and for the words of wisdom you gave me on that trek, I still remember them today.

Fathers day prep, a short story about last night.

When Fathers day comes around each year in June, it always creeps up on me, because it is in the middle of June, and normally I forget about it till the day before, sure I think a little about it a little, but I normally do not plan anything, same thing happened this year.

I had planed a little, I am taking my Dad to the CPAC, of the Rocky Mountains BBQ, on July 1st, but I also wanted to do something more, we always make a breakfast for my dad, I wanted to get some Chocolate Milk, because that is his Favorite.

So last night, after I got back from the BBQ (one of my next posts will be about the BBQ) I made a list of what we needed for breakfast, we realized we did not have enough milk for Belgian waffles, so we went to Wal-Mart, we got there, I ran and got Milk, and saw they had Chocolate milk, but it was like $4.50 a gallon, I refuse to pay more for Milk, then Gas, on the way out, I they had deli chickens on discount, so my mom grabbed one, to debone.

Anyway, we then headed up to Ridley's, I grabbed some bread, (that I forgot to get it at Wal-Mart,) and they had Ice Cream on sale, so I grabbed my Dads favorite flavors, for desert tonight. I then rant to the back of the store, and they had Chocolate Milk on sale, for $2.40 I was like STEAL! so I grabbed one, and went to the front, at checkout, it rang in at $5.39 I was like WHAT, and the Cashier said, you grabbed the wrong one, I then ran back, only to find they were out of the milk that was on sale for $2.40 I then ran to the front, paid for the bread/ice cream, then got in the car to race over to Smiths.

We then drove to Smiths, the time is 11:55 I run into smiths, the people are like we close in 5 minutes, I run to the back, the Chocolate milk was $3.40 but I did not care at this point, I grabbed it, ran to the front, paid right as the lights started to dim, to say HEY WE ARE CLOSED come check out! I got to the car and it said 11:59 I was like WE MADE IT! Let’s go home! We then get home, with everything needed for Fathers day breakfast! I was sooo sleepy, I went right to bed.

So I watched the first real, Republican debate tonight, it was rather enjoyable, it also was funny, I loved ALL the joke questions, all were very funny.

I agree with Cain DEEP DISH ALL THE WAY! anyway, back to larger matters, one of the things I would like to note this, I found this odd, that Michele Bachmann would admit this after saying it is a "vital classified secrets."

"BACHMANN: First of all, we were not attacked. We were not threatened with attack. There was no vital national interest. I sit on the House Select Committee on Intelligence. We deal with the nation’s vital classified secrets.

We to this day don’t yet know who the rebel forces are that we’re helping."

Anyway, let me brake down the debate, into 5 areas.

Biggest Gaffe.
Worst Lie.
Who Won. (best for last)

Who lost.

In my book, the person who lost/made the biggest fool of himself was Tim Pawlenty, he hit around the bush on many topics, but really made a fool of himself in a few, namely this jewel.

"The first duty of the president of the United States, as the leader of this nation and commander in chief, is to make sure the nation is safe. You bet. If there are individuals I have intelligence on, or groups in Yemen that present a threat to our security interests in that region or the United States of America, you can bet they will hear from me and we’ll continue the bombings."

So basically, he is willing to commit an act of war, anywhere to get a terrorist ? he would bomb SOVEREIGN nation, that is an act of war in my book, what would happen if Mexico started Bombing TX/AZ/NM to get at the Drug Cartels ??? He also gave the worst dodge of the night, and his lack of attacking Romney the front runner. Which leads us into the next area.

Best Quote.

Tim, just hit around the bush, and avoided the question hard, and the best quote from Mitt, "Why didn’t you give me a call and ask what worked and what didn’t? And I would have told you, Mr. President, that what you’re doing will not work."

I also loved Tim with this.

Biggest Gaffe.

Romney also had the biggest Gaffe.

"It’s time for us to bring our troops home as soon as we possibly can, consistent with the word that comes to our generals that we can hand the country over to the Taliban military in a way that they’re able to defend themselves. Excuse me, the Afghan military to defend themselves from the Taliban. That’s an important distinction."

The recovery was expeditiously, and made everyone laugh.

Worst Lie.

The winner of this, is Herman Cain. On the Glenn Beck show a few days ago, Herman Cain said he would require proof from Muslims they were loyal to America before they work for the United States government. Here is a transcript of the conversation:

"BECK: So wait a minute, are you saying that Muslims have to prove, there has to be a loyalty proof?(looking shocked)

CAIN: Yes, to the Constitution of the United States of America.

On this last Saturday my whole family except my Sister's family (in Wisconsin), and my brother James (at scout camp), got together, and we had a picnic, we went up Provo canyon, to south fork park, it is a nice little park, with a little stream running on the edge. So this past Friday, I worked, my Sister (Julia) picked me up from work, we then went over to my brothers, and picked up some Wine to (his contribution to the dinner) we then went back to my sisters house, so she could pack, because they (Julia and her Husband Rory) were crashing the night at my house (well my family's house)

Well waiting for Her Mom and Dad to get in the car, my niece Isabella wanted to drive.

The best part of Pasta Carbonara? BACON!

The phrase made famous by the Nazi's, when ever I hear this phrase, I think of the height of a Police state, so much to my shock, I hear that the City of PROVO UTAH, is passing a law, that without the papers, you can be fined, and arrested, WITHOUT CAUSE other than being in public, if your under 18 during school hours.

You need ID to be in public ???? to prove your older then 18, or if your not you need WAIVERS to be in public if your homeschooled, EVEN IF YOUR WITH YOUR PARENT! My family goes to BYU all the time, to the BYU Museum of Art, or other buildings, and now if we do that, with my younger brothers or sisters, THEY COULD BE ARRESTED, if they did not have proper waivers!

When did we need waivers to be in public! PAPERS PLEASE, no Papers? You get ticketed 60$+

PROVO — Six-year-olds being handcuffed and hauled off in police cars.

Home-schooled children getting detained by law enforcement because they're outside playing in park on a weekday.

And BYU students having to produce a student ID in order to grab lunch off campus.

Realistic or not, these are some of the concerns expressed in recent weeks by parents and other Provo residents regarding a proposal to criminalize daytime truancy for school-age minors.

The Provo City Council is considering an ordinance that would authorize police to issue citations to children ages 6 to 17 found to be truant. The offense would be punishable as a class B misdemeanor.

Provo Mayor John Curtis said the proposal emerged from discussions of the Provo Gang Task Force Steering Committee as a crime-prevention tool. Provo police say there's a link between truancy and daytime crimes, particularly those involving gangs.

"Our goal is to be proactive on gangs," Curtis said. "We don't have a serious gang problem, and we like that. We want to be way ahead of this thing."

Provo School District spokesman Greg Hudnall said the number of truancy cases being referred from the district to juvenile court has nearly doubled over the past five years.

In 2004-05, the district referred 110 students to juvenile court — the final step in the state's method for dealing with habitual truancy. In 2009-10, the district referred 211.

"We just see those numbers rising," Hudnall said. "This is our approach to try and help deal with something that's very serious."

But some Provo residents, particularly those with school-age children, say they believe the proposed action goes too far. They worry that children who are doing nothing wrong will be made to feel like criminals simply for being in public on a school day.

"The biggest problem I have with this ordinance is it will give Provo city police officers the authority to detain, interrogate and potentially arrest anyone who appears to be under the age of 18." -Gove Allen, Provo parent
"It's truly frightening," said Gove Allen, a Provo resident and parent. "The biggest problem I have with this ordinance is it will give Provo city police officers the authority to detain, interrogate and potentially arrest anyone who appears to be under the age of 18 and is in a public place within the city of Provo."

Concerned Provo residents like Allen and his wife, Veronica, have been flooding Mayor Curtis and members of the City Council with e-mails, calling on them to find another way to deal with truancy problems.

The Allens have organized a "peaceful protest" for 1 p.m. Tuesday outside Provo City Hall, 351 W. Center. The City Council is scheduled to discuss the issue during its 2:30 p.m. work session and possibly vote during the 7 p.m. formal meeting.

"Yes, we have a truancy problem, but this is not the way to solve it," Veronica Allen said. "There are too many potential problems with it."

Among those, she said, are home-school and charter school students, many of whom have different schedules than traditional elementary, junior high and high schools in the Provo School District.

"We should not have our police interrogating minors without a parent being there, and that's what they'll be able to do," Allen said.

Gove Allen, who also works as a professor at BYU, said some incoming freshmen at the university are younger than 18 — and even more of them look like they are underage.

"BYU students who live, work and go to places of business in the city of Provo are now going to be in a situation where a police officer can come up to them and say, 'You're in a public place. You look like you're under 18. I need you to demonstrate to me that you're allowed to be here in this public place at this time,'" he said.

"This is Germany in 1939 — show me your papers," Gove Allen said.

Provo City Councilman Sterling Beck has been adamantly opposed to the ordinance since it was first discussed in November. Beck grew up in Monrovia, Calif., the city that he said "pioneered these kinds of ordinances."

A "peaceful protest" against the truancy ordinance is planed for Tuesday afternoon.
Time: 1 p.m.
Location: Outside Provo City Hall, 351 W. Center Street.
The City Council is scheduled to discuss the issue during its 2:30 p.m. work session and possibly vote during the 7 p.m. formal meeting.
"As a home-schooled student, I actually got to witness first-hand how these ordinances can have unintended consequences on people outside of the school district," he said.

Beck, who was home-schooled for a few years in the early 1990s, said his experiences weren't as frightening as those of others he heard about. But they were bad enough to convince him that such an ordinance is not right for Provo.

"You were genuinely afraid to go out of your house during the daytime hours because you knew that, at very least, you would be questioned by a police officer for being outside," Beck said.

Mayor Curtis said city leaders don't want to see that happen in Provo. The City Council is taking its time to act on the ordinance, he said, because it is very aware of concerns some residents have with the ordinance.

"There's been a lot of clamor (about the proposed ordinance)," Curtis said. "Some of the e-mails I get, they talk about hauling elementary school kids off in handcuffs. That's not realistic. Nobody's having those kinds of discussions that would allow anyone to haul anyone off in handcuffs, let alone elementary school kids."

City leaders are open to any and all suggestions about dealing with truancy, the mayor said.

"How do we reduce truancy? What are our options? That's what people need to be asking," Curtis said. "This is just a thoughtful dialogue about this problem. We're not just throwing a new ordinance at it."

Why I support traditional marriage.

So, the other day at work I asked one of my co-workers, what were his thoughts on gay marriage. He said, "I don't really care what they do."

He then asked me, "well, Jeremy, do you support gay marriage ?"

I said "I do not"

He asked "Why"

And that is why I am writing this blog post. Since my co-worker is unsure of his faith, he believes there is a God, but is not sure of anything else. I tried to explain why I was against Gay Marriage without going into my religious views( i.e. the bible condemning it,and the Prophet condemning it).

I told him, that not supporting gay Marriages was logical, and reasonable as far as I could tell. For if I supported it, where could I draw the line. If I supported gay marriages, then I would have no moral high ground to fight against anything else.

How can you claim to deny a Man (or Woman) multiple wifes (or husbands) if, you let gays get married, because "they loved each other"? they love each other?!?

How can you deny, a man who wants to marry his dog the "right" to do so if they both love each other? To most Atheists (most of whom are Pro gay) what is the difference between man and a dog
's right to marry if they are in love and two men?

At what grounds do you deny a man, to marry his own kid? (Say a 12 year old girl) If you say, "well, she is to young, she can't choose for herself", then, what would you tell Obama's Science Czar who says, we (the government) should have the right, to abort kids, until they become people? They are only considered people once they can make all choices for themselves.

So what do you tell the man who wants to marry his daughter? you can't abort that 12 year old girl, she can choose on her own, but she can't choose to marry her own dad?

The fact is, unless you draw the line at gay marriage, THERE IS NO MORAL HIGH GROUND. There is no logic, or reasoning to prevent sociality from slipping into utter whoredom, and abominations. I draw the line at Marriage between a man and a woman, not only because it is my religious belief, but because it is the last logical, sensible, and moral battle before the edge of the canyon wall(which once we go over, there is no coming back).

Paying others to get paid more then myself ?

Ok, lets start out, I am 19, I was unemployed, until this past May, (I was 18 then), I finally found a job, I now make minimum wage, 7.25$ an hour, after almost 6 months I have worked my way up, and now get around 30+ hours a week, when I first started, I was getting 14-20 hours a week.

I live in Utah, I am a good worker, help my employer, and I am a good citizen, I am Eagle Scout...... And I am paying the Government, to pay companies to hire people, and pay them more then I make ? does anyone else think this is wrong ? every person I have talked to about this, it has pissed off, they think it is wrong also.

What am I talking about you may ask ? it is the new DWS (Department of workforce Service) Program "Utah Back to Work"

Utah's Department of workforce Services has announced, that Utah Companies need to hire more unemployed Youth, age 18-24, and to give them an incentive they are offering 2,000$ to employers who hire these unemployed Youth, only if they give them 9.00$ an hour, and 35 hours a week, and keep them at least 3 months, after that, no strings.

(Fun fact if they get 9.00 an hour, and they work 35 hours a week, for 12 weeks, they will make 3,780$, in the almost 6 months I have been working, I have made 3,580$ about 200$ less then what those people will make in 3 months, I have also had the government take over 500$ from my pay checks, which is almost 15% of my money, 5% more then the 10% I pay in tithing, and I still get to pay 5+% sales tax, anyone think a 17% flat tax is bad now ? rant over)

SO the Government is now taxing ME, to pay companies to hire OTHER PEOPLE, and pay them MORE THEN I MAKE ?????? how is does anyone think this is right ? when is it right to tax someone, to then pay someone else, to hire and pay someone more then the first person ?

Things like this are killing America, how about they just lower taxes on companies, to stimulate new growth, instead of taxing us, to put someone else back to work, are these Private sector, temp jobs, subsidized by the government any better then Public sector, (AKA Government) jobs ?

It has been a while since I last posted about a Political matter, so here goes.

So our good friends the Watermelon terrorists have brought us something great, a video about a movement called 10:10, this movement is a goal to cut 10% of world emissions by the end of 2010.

What better way to show people the great things that can do to cut down on their emissions then this video, or so they thought.

I noticed it has been a long time, since I last posted, and I figured it was time for an update.

Work has been really crazy lately, I am now getting 40 hours a week, and it has been crazy busy, so all and all, it is going great on that front.

Because I have been really busy with work, I have not had as much time to blog, to follow politics (as much as I would like to), sports, and other things, like I would, so here is a little update, I hope to have more later this weekend.

My 5 Step plan to fix the Illegal Immigration problem in the USA.

Step One.

Make coming here legally easier, by restructuring the "Department of immigration and naturalization" to make the wait times no more then 30 days. In 30 days we should be able to tell people, yes they can come here, or no they can not.

Step Two.

Remove incentives for coming here illegally, by doing the following 3 things.
1st NO MORE WELFARE for illegal's.
2nd Remove their jobs, crack down on those who hire illegal’s, punish them with fines, and Jail time.
3rd To have their kids be US Citizens, one parent MUST be a Citizen, no more of this, both being illegal, but the baby was born in the US, so the baby is a Citizen.

Step Three.

Make coming here illegally harder, by finishing the wall, and set up boarder guards, along the boarder, and allow them to shoot! And have the Federal government do their Job, AND allow states to help, like AZ SB 1070.

Step Four.

Deal with those who are here, tell all illegal’s, they can come to their local Town hall, or Police station for the next 30 days, and one of two things will happen.

1st free of charge they can be sent home, no questions asked, but if they still want to stay, they can apply to come here legally, and they will be top of the list.

2nd, they can come, and apply to join our Armed Forces, swear fealty to the Constitution, and if they do so, They can become Legal Citizens, along with their Wife, and kids who are younger then 18.

Step Five

Crack down on those who still want to abuse the system, by doing the following 4 things.

1st All Illegal’s caught after the 30 day grace window, are deported, and Charged with a Felon, and denied to come back here, at any time in the future.

2nd Any repeat Illegal is sent to jail for 30 days, and Fined all the money on his person, from 1$ up to 100,000$.

3rd Any Illegal caught running Drugs, is sent to jail for 90 days, and Fined all the money on his person, from 1$ up to 100,000$.

4th Any Illegal who Rapes or Murders anyone, is executed, after no more then 30 days after being convicted.

I think this plan would work well, I believe it shows the right amount of Mercy, and the right amount of Justice.

To me Honor Loyalty and Respect mean the following.

Honor, it is not just an attitude, it is a way of life, it is a higher set of morals, the way you treat those who you think deserve no Honor, tells more about what level your Honor is, then the way you treat those who you think deserve Honor. For how you treat your enemy's shows what your morals are. Also Honor is being the bigger person, when someone asks for forgiveness, even if you think they deserve it not, Honor demands you forgive, them their trespasses, as God forgives ours, Honor is leading your troops into battle, yet being humble enough to admit when your wrong, and when you need help, this reminds me of a painting by an artist who died this past week, Arnold Friberg, and his great work, George Washington at Valley Forge, kneeling before his Maker and praying.

Loyalty, to me, this is one that must be earned, unlike Honor, which is higher morals, given to ALL MEN. Loyalty must be earned, and if it is abused, it is hard to return! Loyalty to a friend, is willing to do what needs to be done, stand by him, and at times condemn him, if he is wrong, Loyalty to ones nation, is Patriotism, but remember Loyalty is being who you are, all the time, not only some of the time, wear who you are proudly, for if your ashamed, maybe that is not who you should be, and you need to change.

To me, the greatest example of Loyalty, is my Saviour Jesus Christ.

I went to see the movie, this past weekend, let me say, I WAS PISSED OFF, when it was over, the ruined it, Liberalizing everything, changing the nations races, and everything, so here is my review.

First, lets start with the Four Nations.

Air, They mixed events with the Southern and Northern Air temples, and what is up with the FIRE NATION camp at the Northern Air Temple?

Water, I love how they showed the Southern Water Tribe, and the Northern, WOW.

Earth, it was ok, it was lame that the prison, was ON LAND, when in TV it was a Iron Boat, so that they could not bend it.

Fire, well, THEY RUINED IT! Fire nation, is JAPANESE, all about Honor, and Family, and duty, they turned it into Indian, what is that about ? the architecture being Indian was also weird, IT should be Japanese.

Here is what I think the 4 nations should be like.

Fire Nation: Japanese
Air Nomads: Tibet
Water Tribe: Eskimo
Earth Kingdom: Chinese for the Capital, but every other type, Black, white, Indian Aribic, basically the other citys, Earth is everyone.

6th, The names, PLEASE it is AANG not OONG! it is AVATAR, not Oovatar.

7th, Why does he change Sokka ? he should be around 15 years old, but this one has him at 19.

8th, they skip the Kyoshi Warriors.

9th, They mess up a lot of stuff with the Northern water Tribe, Princess Yue and Sokka, to be the biggest.

10th, and this is the MOST EPIC FAIL, "The Avatar can not harm anyone" WHAT THE HELL IS THAT LIBERAL BS, doing in this movie ????

Over all, I give it a grade of F.

The best part is, they will do a remake in 10 years, and hopefully the 3D will be better, and the acting also! and STICK TO THE PLOT, stop making new crap up, I hope Peter Jackson can do the remake!

My Fourth of July weekend.

Well, for my 4th of July weekend, I was able to get Saturday off, because my Boss at Jamba Juice, is awesome, and let me have it off so I could go to my grandmas 90th Birthday Party.

So the weekend started with work, on Friday from 3pm - 11 pm, I came home, and woke up at 8, to go to a Groves Family 4th of July breakfast, (held on the 3rd, because Church was in the morning) anyway, Rory brought me along, so it was kinda weird at first, but then I started talking with peoples, and it was fun.

We (Julia my sister, and Rory her Husband) then went to Orem, and we had a Birthday Party for my Grandma, she turned 90, it was really cool, the whole family came together, my Aunt's came over, along with my Brother Adam, and his kids, it was awesome, she looked happy, and it seams like this will be the last tho.

We then to see the Avatar the Last Air Bender, I will write a review for that later, we went to the Sugar house fireworks, it was good, we then went, and had a campout at the groves house, and woke up, and came home, spent a nice Sunday, then went to the Groves, for their 4th of July Dinner, it was really nice, and over all, it was a great weekend.

Well, the LA City Council passed a boycott of AZ the other night, it was 13-1 to boycott AZ, over the new law, which makes being ILLEGALLY in the USA, a Crime! how dare they!

Crazy times at the Goff house. (mini update)

Well, the past two weeks have been REALLY crazy, my Sister (Jennifer) and her husband and little girl, are moving to Wisconsin, and they stayed last weekend at our house, and my brother also came up from Cal, to spend the weekend up here, so last weekend we held lots of family activity.

On Thursday we celebrated Jennifer husband graduating from BYU.
On Friday of that week, we had a Family May Birthday bash.
On Saturday, I had my Eagle court of Honor.
and on Sunday my older sister's (Julia) little Girl, had her baby blessing.

so when they all left on Monday, this week was already crazy, but on Tuesday, I went to spend 3 days at, my sisters place (Julia), well I was up there, I was offered to go live with their family, and look for work up near her place, and I might be taking that option, because I need to find work to save money for my mission.

So, on the 15th of April I attended the Utah Tax day TEA party, it was overall a good event, some parts were kinda boring, but it was a good event, I did not take pictures, wish I had, but here are what a few of the good signs said.

"The Problem with Socialism is, sooner or later, you run out of other peoples money."

One cool thing I noticed, was that some of the construction workers, took their lunch time, and attend this, they only were able to spend 10-15 minutes, but it was awesome to see people from all walks of life there.

I look forward Restoring Honor, on 8/28 this fall, and to the 9/12 rally this fall.

I have started volunteering my time at the local Bishop store house, I started last week Monday, and I work 8AM-Noon, I have been helping with the fresh produce, and with stocking, I am really liking it, and anyone else in Utah Valley, come on over and check it out service is good for the soul.

It has been really cool, getting to get to know, new people, many people my age that help there, are disabled, and it is really cool, that they can help, and really do something.

I don't know why I am doing this post, but lol what ever, I find it really cool, as some of the local stores give their extra food to the Bishop store house.

Duty to God, Eagle, and Seminary.

I earned my Duty to God Award this past Sunday, after almost 7 years working on it, I have earned the highest award for Young Men, in the LDS Church, The Duty to God Award, to get the Duty to God Award, I had to complete the Deacon, Teacher, and Priest Duty to God requirements.

here is what the Medallion I earned looks like.

Later I will get a picture of me holding my Duty to God, and my Eagle, and my Seminary Diploma, I have been working towards my Eagle, and my Duty to God for about 7 years each, and Seminary for 4 years, but it really hit home when I was on a winter camp out, and one of our leaders was talking about the talk by, President Ezra Taft Benson.

"Give me a young man who has kept himself morally clean and has faithfully attended his Church meetings. Give me a young man who has magnified his priesthood and has earned the Duty to God Award and is an Eagle Scout. Give me a young man who is a seminary graduate and has a burning testimony of the Book of Mormon. Give me such a young man, and I will give you a young man who can perform miracles for the Lord in the mission field and throughout his life" ("To the 'Youth of the Noble Birthright,' " Ensign, May 1986, 44–45).

You read that right, the TEA party movement, has grown to the UK, the people of the UK, are finally sick of their taxes, and are joining with their brothers and sisters, in the USA, in protesting the government enslavement of our kids with debt, and have started their own local TEA party, they also believe WE HAVE BEEN "TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY!"

The movement is now in the UK, and is about to spring up, all around the world, people now believe THEY know how to spend their money better than the government, and that this debt is to much, spending must be CUT, and Taxes lowered.

That shows, what most MMGW believers, deny, it is called, the Medieval Warm Period (MWP), this topic is so silenced, because if it was hotter world wide during the MWP, it would, disprove MMGW, as a fraud, because it was Hotter, got hotter faster, AND was over 600 years ago, how can man, and cars be the cause now, yet it was hotter during the MWP?

I noticed that word, WORLD, it was commonly believed that the MWP, was a WORLD wide event, but the IPCC has come out, saying other wise, but we all know how well founded they are, but now we have one of the "Professors" saying it could have been world wide, meaning, this "settled" topic, is far from it, then we got this gem.

He has conceded to an interviewer from the BBC that based on the evidence in his findings, the globe might have been warmer in medieval times.

It looks like he may be turning over a new leaf, he admitted, in HIS OWN FINDINGS, the IPPC might be wrong, and those who cite the MWP right!

Looks like those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it, those who know history, know it got hotter, and also know it then cooled, then got hotter, then cooled! it is the cycles of the Earth, not man made, but the way of life.

In the end, Al Gore forgot this.

You can fool some of the people some of the time, as Abraham Lincoln observed, and you even can fool all the people some of the time. But you can't fool all the people all the time. Al Gore and his friends got so excited about points one and especially point two that they forgot point three!

State Of The Union Address 2010: Interesting Statistics

I loaded the official transcript of the State Of The Union address delivered by Barack Obama on 27 January, 2010 into Microsoft Word to do some research on it. Here are some interesting statistics I was able to produce from this analysis (the length of the speech, and start and end times are obviously from media sources, not from MS Word).

The Word help files recommend aiming for a Flesch Reading Ease score of between 60 and 70 (the score goes from 0 to 100, with higher numbers denoting higher reading ease). So, Barack Obama barely made it into the recommended range with this speech. The Word help files also recommend aiming for a Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level score of between 7.0 and 8.0. On this score, our President's speech was too erudite and scholarly, with his speech scoring almost a full grade level higher than the high end of the recommendation. By the way, both measures of readability use the number of syllables per word in their calculations, but Word does not provide any statistics on syllables at all!

Madame Speaker, Vice President Biden, Members of Congress, distinguished guests, and fellow Americans:
Our Constitution declares that from time to time, the President shall give to Congress information about the state of our union. For two hundred and twenty years, our leaders have fulfilled this duty. They have done so during periods of prosperity and tranquility. And they have done so in the midst of war and depression; at moments of great strife and great struggle.

It’s tempting to look back on these moments and assume that our progress was inevitable – that America was always destined to succeed. But when the Union was turned back at Bull Run and the Allies first landed at Omaha Beach, victory was very much in doubt. When the market crashed on Black Tuesday and civil rights marchers were beaten on Bloody Sunday, the future was anything but certain. These were times that tested the courage of our convictions, and the strength of our union. And despite all our divisions and disagreements; our hesitations and our fears; America prevailed because we chose to move forward as one nation, and one people.

Again, we are tested. And again, we must answer history’s call.

One year ago, I took office amid two wars, an economy rocked by severe recession, a financial system on the verge of collapse, and a government deeply in debt. Experts from across the political spectrum warned that if we did not act, we might face a second depression. So we acted – immediately and aggressively. And one year later, the worst of the storm has passed.

But the devastation remains. One in ten Americans still cannot find work. Many businesses have shuttered. Home values have declined. Small towns and rural communities have been hit especially hard. For those who had already known poverty, life has become that much harder.

This recession has also compounded the burdens that America’s families have been dealing with for decades – the burden of working harder and longer for less; of being unable to save enough to retire or help kids with college.

So I know the anxieties that are out there right now. They’re not new. These struggles are the reason I ran for President. These struggles are what I’ve witnessed for years in places like Elkhart, Indiana and Galesburg, Illinois. I hear about them in the letters that I read each night. The toughest to read are those written by children – asking why they have to move from their home, or when their mom or dad will be able to go back to work.

For these Americans and so many others, change has not come fast enough. Some are frustrated; some are angry. They don’t understand why it seems like bad behavior on Wall Street is rewarded but hard work on Main Street isn’t; or why Washington has been unable or unwilling to solve any of our problems. They are tired of the partisanship and the shouting and the pettiness. They know we can’t afford it. Not now.

So we face big and difficult challenges. And what the American people hope – what they deserve – is for all of us, Democrats and Republicans, to work through our differences; to overcome the numbing weight of our politics. For while the people who sent us here have different backgrounds, different stories and different beliefs, the anxieties they face are the same. The aspirations they hold are shared. A job that pays the bills. A chance to get ahead. Most of all, the ability to give their children a better life.

You know what else they share? They share a stubborn resilience in the face of adversity. After one of the most difficult years in our history, they remain busy building cars and teaching kids; starting businesses and going back to school. They’re coaching little league and helping their neighbors. As one woman wrote me, “We are strained but hopeful, struggling but encouraged.”

It is because of this spirit – this great decency and great strength – that I have never been more hopeful about America’s future than I am tonight. Despite our hardships, our union is strong. We do not give up. We do not quit. We do not allow fear or division to break our spirit. In this new decade, it’s time the American people get a government that matches their decency; that embodies their strength.

And tonight, I’d like to talk about how together, we can deliver on that promise.

It begins with our economy.

Our most urgent task upon taking office was to shore up the same banks that helped cause this crisis. It was not easy to do. And if there’s one thing that has unified Democrats and Republicans, it’s that we all hated the bank bailout. I hated it. You hated it. It was about as popular as a root canal.

But when I ran for President, I promised I wouldn’t just do what was popular – I would do what was necessary. And if we had allowed the meltdown of the financial system, unemployment might be double what it is today. More businesses would certainly have closed. More homes would have surely been lost.

So I supported the last administration’s efforts to create the financial rescue program. And when we took the program over, we made it more transparent and accountable. As a result, the markets are now stabilized, and we have recovered most of the money we spent on the banks.

To recover the rest, I have proposed a fee on the biggest banks. I know Wall Street isn’t keen on this idea, but if these firms can afford to hand out big bonuses again, they can afford a modest fee to pay back the taxpayers who rescued them in their time of need.

As we stabilized the financial system, we also took steps to get our economy growing again, save as many jobs as possible, and help Americans who had become unemployed.

That’s why we extended or increased unemployment benefits for more than 18 million Americans; made health insurance 65% cheaper for families who get their coverage through COBRA; and passed 25 different tax cuts.

Let me repeat: we cut taxes. We cut taxes for 95% of working families. We cut taxes for small businesses. We cut taxes for first-time homebuyers. We cut taxes for parents trying to care for their children. We cut taxes for 8 million Americans paying for college. As a result, millions of Americans had more to spend on gas, and food, and other necessities, all of which helped businesses keep more workers. And we haven’t raised income taxes by a single dime on a single person. Not a single dime.

Because of the steps we took, there are about two million Americans working right now who would otherwise be unemployed. 200,000 work in construction and clean energy. 300,000 are teachers and other education workers. Tens of thousands are cops, firefighters, correctional officers, and first responders. And we are on track to add another one and a half million jobs to this total by the end of the year.

The plan that has made all of this possible, from the tax cuts to the jobs, is the Recovery Act. That’s right – the Recovery Act, also known as the Stimulus Bill. Economists on the left and the right say that this bill has helped saved jobs and avert disaster. But you don’t have to take their word for it.

Talk to the small business in Phoenix that will triple its workforce because of the Recovery Act.

Talk to the window manufacturer in Philadelphia who said he used to be skeptical about the Recovery Act, until he had to add two more work shifts just because of the business it created.

Talk to the single teacher raising two kids who was told by her principal in the last week of school that because of the Recovery Act, she wouldn’t be laid off after all.

There are stories like this all across America. And after two years of recession, the economy is growing again. Retirement funds have started to gain back some of their value. Businesses are beginning to invest again, and slowly some are starting to hire again.

But I realize that for every success story, there are other stories, of men and women who wake up with the anguish of not knowing where their next paycheck will come from; who send out resumes week after week and hear nothing in response. That is why jobs must be our number one focus in 2010, and that is why I am calling for a new jobs bill tonight.

Now, the true engine of job creation in this country will always be America’s businesses. But government can create the conditions necessary for businesses to expand and hire more workers.

We should start where most new jobs do – in small businesses, companies that begin when an entrepreneur takes a chance on a dream, or a worker decides its time she became her own boss.

Through sheer grit and determination, these companies have weathered the recession and are ready to grow. But when you talk to small business owners in places like Allentown, Pennsylvania or Elyria, Ohio, you find out that even though banks on Wall Street are lending again, they are mostly lending to bigger companies. But financing remains difficult for small business owners across the country.

So tonight, I’m proposing that we take $30 billion of the money Wall Street banks have repaid and use it to help community banks give small businesses the credit they need to stay afloat. I am also proposing a new small business tax credit – one that will go to over one million small businesses who hire new workers or raise wages. While we’re at it, let’s also eliminate all capital gains taxes on small business investment; and provide a tax incentive for all businesses, large and small, to invest in new plants and equipment.

Next, we can put Americans to work today building the infrastructure of tomorrow. From the first railroads to the interstate highway system, our nation has always been built to compete. There’s no reason Europe or China should have the fastest trains, or the new factories that manufacture clean energy products.

Tomorrow, I’ll visit Tampa, Florida, where workers will soon break ground on a new high-speed railroad funded by the Recovery Act. There are projects like that all across this country that will create jobs and help our nation move goods, services, and information. We should put more Americans to work building clean energy facilities, and give rebates to Americans who make their homes more energy efficient, which supports clean energy jobs. And to encourage these and other businesses to stay within our borders, it’s time to finally slash the tax breaks for companies that ship our jobs overseas and give those tax breaks to companies that create jobs in the United States of America.

The House has passed a jobs bill that includes some of these steps. As the first order of business this year, I urge the Senate to do the same. People are out of work. They are hurting. They need our help. And I want a jobs bill on my desk without delay.

But the truth is, these steps still won’t make up for the seven million jobs we’ve lost over the last two years. The only way to move to full employment is to lay a new foundation for long-term economic growth, and finally address the problems that America’s families have confronted for years.

We cannot afford another so-called economic “expansion” like the one from last decade – what some call the “lost decade” – where jobs grew more slowly than during any prior expansion; where the income of the average American household declined while the cost of health care and tuition reached record highs; where prosperity was built on a housing bubble and financial speculation.

From the day I took office, I have been told that addressing our larger challenges is too ambitious – that such efforts would be too contentious, that our political system is too gridlocked, and that we should just put things on hold for awhile.

For those who make these claims, I have one simple question:

How long should we wait? How long should America put its future on hold?

You see, Washington has been telling us to wait for decades, even as the problems have grown worse. Meanwhile, China’s not waiting to revamp its economy. Germany’s not waiting. India’s not waiting. These nations aren’t standing still. These nations aren’t playing for second place. They’re putting more emphasis on math and science. They’re rebuilding their infrastructure. They are making serious investments in clean energy because they want those jobs.

Well I do not accept second-place for the United States of America. As hard as it may be, as uncomfortable and contentious as the debates may be, it’s time to get serious about fixing the problems that are hampering our growth.

One place to start is serious financial reform. Look, I am not interested in punishing banks, I’m interested in protecting our economy. A strong, healthy financial market makes it possible for businesses to access credit and create new jobs. It channels the savings of families into investments that raise incomes. But that can only happen if we guard against the same recklessness that nearly brought down our entire economy.

We need to make sure consumers and middle-class families have the information they need to make financial decisions. We can’t allow financial institutions, including those that take your deposits, to take risks that threaten the whole economy.

The House has already passed financial reform with many of these changes. And the lobbyists are already trying to kill it. Well, we cannot let them win this fight. And if the bill that ends up on my desk does not meet the test of real reform, I will send it back.

Next, we need to encourage American innovation. Last year, we made the largest investment in basic research funding in history – an investment that could lead to the world’s cheapest solar cells or treatment that kills cancer cells but leaves healthy ones untouched. And no area is more ripe for such innovation than energy. You can see the results of last year’s investment in clean energy – in the North Carolina company that will create 1200 jobs nationwide helping to make advanced batteries; or in the California business that will put 1,000 people to work making solar panels.

But to create more of these clean energy jobs, we need more production, more efficiency, more incentives. That means building a new generation of safe, clean nuclear power plants in this country. It means making tough decisions about opening new offshore areas for oil and gas development. It means continued investment in advanced biofuels and clean coal technologies. And yes, it means passing a comprehensive energy and climate bill with incentives that will finally make clean energy the profitable kind of energy in America.

I am grateful to the House for passing such a bill last year. This year, I am eager to help advance the bipartisan effort in the Senate. I know there have been questions about whether we can afford such changes in a tough economy; and I know that there are those who disagree with the overwhelming scientific evidence on climate change. But even if you doubt the evidence, providing incentives for energy efficiency and clean energy are the right thing to do for our future – because the nation that leads the clean energy economy will be the nation that leads the global economy. And America must be that nation.

Third, we need to export more of our goods. Because the more products we make and sell to other countries, the more jobs we support right here in America. So tonight, we set a new goal: We will double our exports over the next five years, an increase that will support two million jobs in America. To help meet this goal, we’re launching a National Export Initiative that will help farmers and small businesses increase their exports, and reform export controls consistent with national security.

We have to seek new markets aggressively, just as our competitors are. If America sits on the sidelines while other nations sign trade deals, we will lose the chance to create jobs on our shores. But realizing those benefits also means enforcing those agreements so our trading partners play by the rules. And that’s why we will continue to shape a Doha trade agreement that opens global markets, and why we will strengthen our trade relations in Asia and with key partners like South Korea, Panama, and Colombia.

Fourth, we need to invest in the skills and education of our people.

This year, we have broken through the stalemate between left and right by launching a national competition to improve our schools. The idea here is simple: instead of rewarding failure, we only reward success. Instead of funding the status quo, we only invest in reform – reform that raises student achievement, inspires students to excel in math and science, and turns around failing schools that steal the future of too many young Americans, from rural communities to inner-cities. In the 21st century, one of the best anti-poverty programs is a world-class education. In this country, the success of our children cannot depend more on where they live than their potential.

When we renew the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, we will work with Congress to expand these reforms to all fifty states. Still, in this economy, a high school diploma no longer guarantees a good job. I urge the Senate to follow the House and pass a bill that will revitalize our community colleges, which are a career pathway to the children of so many working families. To make college more affordable, this bill will finally end the unwarranted taxpayer-subsidies that go to banks for student loans. Instead, let’s take that money and give families a $10,000 tax credit for four years of college and increase Pell Grants. And let’s tell another one million students that when they graduate, they will be required to pay only ten percent of their income on student loans, and all of their debt will be forgiven after twenty years – and forgiven after ten years if they choose a career in public service. Because in the United States of America, no one should go broke because they chose to go to college. And it’s time for colleges and universities to get serious about cutting their own costs – because they too have a responsibility to help solve this problem.

Now, the price of college tuition is just one of the burdens facing the middle-class. That’s why last year I asked Vice President Biden to chair a task force on Middle-Class Families. That’s why we’re nearly doubling the child care tax credit, and making it easier to save for retirement by giving every worker access to a retirement account and expanding the tax credit for those who start a nest egg. That’s why we’re working to lift the value of a family’s single largest investment – their home. The steps we took last year to shore up the housing market have allowed millions of Americans to take out new loans and save an average of $1,500 on mortgage payments. This year, we will step up re-financing so that homeowners can move into more affordable mortgages. And it is precisely to relieve the burden on middle-class families that we still need health insurance reform.

Now let’s be clear – I did not choose to tackle this issue to get some legislative victory under my belt. And by now it should be fairly obvious that I didn’t take on health care because it was good politics.

I took on health care because of the stories I’ve heard from Americans with pre-existing conditions whose lives depend on getting coverage; patients who’ve been denied coverage; and families – even those with insurance – who are just one illness away from financial ruin.

After nearly a century of trying, we are closer than ever to bringing more security to the lives of so many Americans. The approach we’ve taken would protect every American from the worst practices of the insurance industry. It would give small businesses and uninsured Americans a chance to choose an affordable health care plan in a competitive market. It would require every insurance plan to cover preventive care. And by the way, I want to acknowledge our First Lady, Michelle Obama, who this year is creating a national movement to tackle the epidemic of childhood obesity and make our kids healthier.

Our approach would preserve the right of Americans who have insurance to keep their doctor and their plan. It would reduce costs and premiums for millions of families and businesses. And according to the Congressional Budget Office – the independent organization that both parties have cited as the official scorekeeper for Congress – our approach would bring down the deficit by as much as $1 trillion over the next two decades.

Still, this is a complex issue, and the longer it was debated, the more skeptical people became. I take my share of the blame for not explaining it more clearly to the American people. And I know that with all the lobbying and horse-trading, this process left most Americans wondering what’s in it for them.

But I also know this problem is not going away. By the time I’m finished speaking tonight, more Americans will have lost their health insurance. Millions will lose it this year. Our deficit will grow. Premiums will go up. Patients will be denied the care they need. Small business owners will continue to drop coverage altogether. I will not walk away from these Americans, and neither should the people in this chamber.

As temperatures cool, I want everyone to take another look at the plan we’ve proposed. There’s a reason why many doctors, nurses, and health care experts who know our system best consider this approach a vast improvement over the status quo. But if anyone from either party has a better approach that will bring down premiums, bring down the deficit, cover the uninsured, strengthen Medicare for seniors, and stop insurance company abuses, let me know. Here’s what I ask of Congress, though: Do not walk away from reform. Not now. Not when we are so close. Let us find a way to come together and finish the job for the American people.

Now, even as health care reform would reduce our deficit, it’s not enough to dig us out of a massive fiscal hole in which we find ourselves. It’s a challenge that makes all others that much harder to solve, and one that’s been subject to a lot of political posturing.

So let me start the discussion of government spending by setting the record straight. At the beginning of the last decade, America had a budget surplus of over $200 billion. By the time I took office, we had a one year deficit of over $1 trillion and projected deficits of $8 trillion over the next decade. Most of this was the result of not paying for two wars, two tax cuts, and an expensive prescription drug program. On top of that, the effects of the recession put a $3 trillion hole in our budget. That was before I walked in the door.

Now if we had taken office in ordinary times, I would have liked nothing more than to start bringing down the deficit. But we took office amid a crisis, and our efforts to prevent a second Depression have added another $1 trillion to our national debt.

I am absolutely convinced that was the right thing to do. But families across the country are tightening their belts and making tough decisions. The federal government should do the same. So tonight, I’m proposing specific steps to pay for the $1 trillion that it took to rescue the economy last year.

Starting in 2011, we are prepared to freeze government spending for three years. Spending related to our national security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will not be affected. But all other discretionary government programs will. Like any cash-strapped family, we will work within a budget to invest in what we need and sacrifice what we don’t. And if I have to enforce this discipline by veto, I will.

We will continue to go through the budget line by line to eliminate programs that we can’t afford and don’t work. We’ve already identified $20 billion in savings for next year. To help working families, we will extend our middle-class tax cuts. But at a time of record deficits, we will not continue tax cuts for oil companies, investment fund managers, and those making over $250,000 a year. We just can’t afford it.

Now, even after paying for what we spent on my watch, we will still face the massive deficit we had when I took office. More importantly, the cost of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will continue to skyrocket. That’s why I’ve called for a bipartisan, Fiscal Commission, modeled on a proposal by Republican Judd Gregg and Democrat Kent Conrad. This can’t be one of those Washington gimmicks that lets us pretend we solved a problem. The Commission will have to provide a specific set of solutions by a certain deadline. Yesterday, the Senate blocked a bill that would have created this commission. So I will issue an executive order that will allow us to go forward, because I refuse to pass this problem on to another generation of Americans. And when the vote comes tomorrow, the Senate should restore the pay-as-you-go law that was a big reason why we had record surpluses in the 1990s.

I know that some in my own party will argue that we cannot address the deficit or freeze government spending when so many are still hurting. I agree, which is why this freeze will not take effect until next year, when the economy is stronger. But understand – if we do not take meaningful steps to rein in our debt, it could damage our markets, increase the cost of borrowing, and jeopardize our recovery – all of which could have an even worse effect on our job growth and family incomes.

From some on the right, I expect we’ll hear a different argument – that if we just make fewer investments in our people, extend tax cuts for wealthier Americans, eliminate more regulations, and maintain the status quo on health care, our deficits will go away. The problem is, that’s what we did for eight years. That’s what helped lead us into this crisis. It’s what helped lead to these deficits. And we cannot do it again.

Rather than fight the same tired battles that have dominated Washington for decades, it’s time to try something new. Let’s invest in our people without leaving them a mountain of debt. Let’s meet our responsibility to the citizens who sent us here. Let’s try common sense.

To do that, we have to recognize that we face more than a deficit of dollars right now. We face a deficit of trust – deep and corrosive doubts about how Washington works that have been growing for years. To close that credibility gap we must take action on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue to end the outsized influence of lobbyists; to do our work openly; and to give our people the government they deserve.

That’s what I came to Washington to do. That’s why – for the first time in history – my Administration posts our White House visitors online. And that’s why we’ve excluded lobbyists from policy-making jobs or seats on federal boards and commissions.

But we can’t stop there. It’s time to require lobbyists to disclose each contact they make on behalf of a client with my Administration or Congress. And it’s time to put strict limits on the contributions that lobbyists give to candidates for federal office. Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests – including foreign corporations – to spend without limit in our elections. Well I don’t think American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities. They should be decided by the American people, and that’s why I’m urging Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps to right this wrong.

I’m also calling on Congress to continue down the path of earmark reform. You have trimmed some of this spending and embraced some meaningful change. But restoring the public trust demands more. For example, some members of Congress post some earmark requests online. Tonight, I’m calling on Congress to publish all earmark requests on a single website before there’s a vote so that the American people can see how their money is being spent.

Of course, none of these reforms will even happen if we don’t also reform how we work with one another.

Now, I am not naïve. I never thought the mere fact of my election would usher in peace, harmony, and some post-partisan era. I knew that both parties have fed divisions that are deeply entrenched. And on some issues, there are simply philosophical differences that will always cause us to part ways. These disagreements, about the role of government in our lives, about our national priorities and our national security, have been taking place for over two hundred years. They are the very essence of our democracy.

But what frustrates the American people is a Washington where every day is Election Day. We cannot wage a perpetual campaign where the only goal is to see who can get the most embarrassing headlines about their opponent – a belief that if you lose, I win. Neither party should delay or obstruct every single bill just because they can. The confirmation of well-qualified public servants should not be held hostage to the pet projects or grudges of a few individual Senators. Washington may think that saying anything about the other side, no matter how false, is just part of the game. But it is precisely such politics that has stopped either party from helping the American people. Worse yet, it is sowing further division among our citizens and further distrust in our government.

So no, I will not give up on changing the tone of our politics. I know it’s an election year. And after last week, it is clear that campaign fever has come even earlier than usual. But we still need to govern. To Democrats, I would remind you that we still have the largest majority in decades, and the people expect us to solve some problems, not run for the hills. And if the Republican leadership is going to insist that sixty votes in the Senate are required to do any business at all in this town, then the responsibility to govern is now yours as well. Just saying no to everything may be good short-term politics, but it’s not leadership. We were sent here to serve our citizens, not our ambitions. So let’s show the American people that we can do it together. This week, I’ll be addressing a meeting of the House Republicans. And I would like to begin monthly meetings with both the Democratic and Republican leadership. I know you can’t wait.

Throughout our history, no issue has united this country more than our security. Sadly, some of the unity we felt after 9/11 has dissipated. We can argue all we want about who’s to blame for this, but I am not interested in re-litigating the past. I know that all of us love this country. All of us are committed to its defense. So let’s put aside the schoolyard taunts about who is tough. Let’s reject the false choice between protecting our people and upholding our values. Let’s leave behind the fear and division, and do what it takes to defend our nation and forge a more hopeful future – for America and the world.

That is the work we began last year. Since the day I took office, we have renewed our focus on the terrorists who threaten our nation. We have made substantial investments in our homeland security and disrupted plots that threatened to take American lives. We are filling unacceptable gaps revealed by the failed Christmas attack, with better airline security, and swifter action on our intelligence. We have prohibited torture and strengthened partnerships from the Pacific to South Asia to the Arabian Peninsula. And in the last year, hundreds of Al Qaeda’s fighters and affiliates, including many senior leaders, have been captured or killed – far more than in 2008.

In Afghanistan, we are increasing our troops and training Afghan Security Forces so they can begin to take the lead in July of 2011, and our troops can begin to come home. We will reward good governance, reduce corruption, and support the rights of all Afghans – men and women alike. We are joined by allies and partners who have increased their own commitment, and who will come together tomorrow in London to reaffirm our common purpose. There will be difficult days ahead. But I am confident we will succeed.

As we take the fight to al Qaeda, we are responsibly leaving Iraq to its people. As a candidate, I promised that I would end this war, and that is what I am doing as President. We will have all of our combat troops out of Iraq by the end of this August. We will support the Iraqi government as they hold elections, and continue to partner with the Iraqi people to promote regional peace and prosperity. But make no mistake: this war is ending, and all of our troops are coming home.

Tonight, all of our men and women in uniform — in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the world – must know that they have our respect, our gratitude, and our full support. And just as they must have the resources they need in war, we all have a responsibility to support them when they come home. That is why we made the largest increase in investments for veterans in decades. That is why we are building a 21st century VA. And that is why Michelle has joined with Jill Biden to forge a national commitment to support military families.

Even as we prosecute two wars, we are also confronting perhaps the greatest danger to the American people – the threat of nuclear weapons. I have embraced the vision of John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan through a strategy that reverses the spread of these weapons, and seeks a world without them. To reduce our stockpiles and launchers, while ensuring our deterrent, the United States and Russia are completing negotiations on the farthest-reaching arms control treaty in nearly two decades. And at April’s Nuclear Security Summit, we will bring forty-four nations together behind a clear goal: securing all vulnerable nuclear materials around the world in four years, so that they never fall into the hands of terrorists.

These diplomatic efforts have also strengthened our hand in dealing with those nations that insist on violating international agreements in pursuit of these weapons. That is why North Korea now faces increased isolation, and stronger sanctions – sanctions that are being vigorously enforced. That is why the international community is more united, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is more isolated. And as Iran’s leaders continue to ignore their obligations, there should be no doubt: they, too, will face growing consequences.

That is the leadership that we are providing – engagement that advances the common security and prosperity of all people. We are working through the G-20 to sustain a lasting global recovery. We are working with Muslim communities around the world to promote science, education and innovation. We have gone from a bystander to a leader in the fight against climate change. We are helping developing countries to feed themselves, and continuing the fight against HIV/AIDS. And we are launching a new initiative that will give us the capacity to respond faster and more effectively to bio-terrorism or an infectious disease – a plan that will counter threats at home, and strengthen public health abroad.

As we have for over sixty years, America takes these actions because our destiny is connected to those beyond our shores. But we also do it because it is right. That is why, as we meet here tonight, over 10,000 Americans are working with many nations to help the people of Haiti recover and rebuild. That is why we stand with the girl who yearns to go to school in Afghanistan; we support the human rights of the women marching through the streets of Iran; and we advocate for the young man denied a job by corruption in Guinea. For America must always stand on the side of freedom and human dignity.

Abroad, America’s greatest source of strength has always been our ideals. The same is true at home. We find unity in our incredible diversity, drawing on the promise enshrined in our Constitution: the notion that we are all created equal, that no matter who you are or what you look like, if you abide by the law you should be protected by it; that if you adhere to our common values you should be treated no different than anyone else.

We must continually renew this promise. My Administration has a Civil Rights Division that is once again prosecuting civil rights violations and employment discrimination. We finally strengthened our laws to protect against crimes driven by hate. This year, I will work with Congress and our military to finally repeal the law that denies gay Americans the right to serve the country they love because of who they are. We are going to crack down on violations of equal pay laws – so that women get equal pay for an equal day’s work. And we should continue the work of fixing our broken immigration system – to secure our borders, enforce our laws, and ensure that everyone who plays by the rules can contribute to our economy and enrich our nations.

In the end, it is our ideals, our values, that built America – values that allowed us to forge a nation made up of immigrants from every corner of the globe; values that drive our citizens still. Every day, Americans meet their responsibilities to their families and their employers. Time and again, they lend a hand to their neighbors and give back to their country. They take pride in their labor, and are generous in spirit. These aren’t Republican values or Democratic values they’re living by; business values or labor values. They are American values.

Unfortunately, too many of our citizens have lost faith that our biggest institutions – our corporations, our media, and yes, our government – still reflect these same values. Each of these institutions are full of honorable men and women doing important work that helps our country prosper. But each time a CEO rewards himself for failure, or a banker puts the rest of us at risk for his own selfish gain, people’s doubts grow. Each time lobbyists game the system or politicians tear each other down instead of lifting this country up, we lose faith. The more that TV pundits reduce serious debates into silly arguments, and big issues into sound bites, our citizens turn away.

No wonder there’s so much cynicism out there.

No wonder there’s so much disappointment.

I campaigned on the promise of change – change we can believe in, the slogan went. And right now, I know there are many Americans who aren’t sure if they still believe we can change – or at least, that I can deliver it.

But remember this – I never suggested that change would be easy, or that I can do it alone. Democracy in a nation of three hundred million people can be noisy and messy and complicated. And when you try to do big things and make big changes, it stirs passions and controversy. That’s just how it is.

Those of us in public office can respond to this reality by playing it safe and avoid telling hard truths. We can do what’s necessary to keep our poll numbers high, and get through the next election instead of doing what’s best for the next generation.

But I also know this: if people had made that decision fifty years ago or one hundred years ago or two hundred years ago, we wouldn’t be here tonight. The only reason we are is because generations of Americans were unafraid to do what was hard; to do what was needed even when success was uncertain; to do what it took to keep the dream of this nation alive for their children and grandchildren.

Our administration has had some political setbacks this year, and some of them were deserved. But I wake up every day knowing that they are nothing compared to the setbacks that families all across this country have faced this year. And what keeps me going – what keeps me fighting – is that despite all these setbacks, that spirit of determination and optimism – that fundamental decency that has always been at the core of the American people – lives on.

It lives on in the struggling small business owner who wrote to me of his company, “None of us,” he said, “…are willing to consider, even slightly, that we might fail.”

It lives on in the woman who said that even though she and her neighbors have felt the pain of recession, “We are strong. We are resilient. We are American.”

It lives on in the 8-year old boy in Louisiana, who just sent me his allowance and asked if I would give it to the people of Haiti. And it lives on in all the Americans who’ve dropped everything to go some place they’ve never been and pull people they’ve never known from rubble, prompting chants of “U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A!” when another life was saved.

The spirit that has sustained this nation for more than two centuries lives on in you, its people.

We have finished a difficult year. We have come through a difficult decade. But a new year has come. A new decade stretches before us. We don’t quit. I don’t quit. Let’s seize this moment – to start anew, to carry the dream forward, and to strengthen our union once more.

Go Forward with Faith. (My Talk in Church)

My talk today is on, Go forward with faith.

Throughout history, people have gone forward with faith, From Adam doing his Burnt offerings, unto God, without knowing why, to Noah, building an Ark, before it rained, I would like to talk about 3 times, people went forward with faith, that teach us about Going forward with faith.

The 1st time is the story of the High Priests of Israel, and the crossing of the River Jordan, The Lord Commanded Joshua, in Joshua Chapter 3 verse 13 saying.

“13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.”

Joshua told the Levites, what the Lord had commanded, and in Verse 15 we read.

Joshua 3:15 “15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)”

Notice that they had to stand in the water, this is an important lesson, when we go forward with faith, the path will not be easy, and we will need to get our feet wet, but remember what happened after they did what the lord commanded.

Joshua 3:16-17

“16 That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap…”

“ 17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.”

They did what the Lord Commanded, them to do even, if it did not make sense, to them at the time, they also stood firm, and passed over on DRY ground.

The 2nd time is the Story of Christopher Columbus, a little bit of a setting, He lived during the Spanish Inquisition, in a time, were do defy the Catholic Church was death, and at the time, the Catholic Church had said the earth was flat, to say otherwise was heresy.

According to Orson Hyde, talking of Angel Moroni, Quote, “that same angel was with Christopher Columbus and gave him deep impressions and dreams and visions respecting the new world. He said that same angel was with Columbus on the stormy deep. He guided his frail vessel to the desired haven, and he calmed the troubled elements.” Close quote.

Columbus goes to the Queen, and tells Her, of his heretical idea, but unlike others at the time, the queen did not kill him, but sent him away, again he tried, and was turned away, as he was leaving the city, in his Journal he said, and Angle appeared, and talked with him, telling him he must go back, as he was thinking about this, Royal Guard found him, and said, that the Queen, on advice from the King, had changed her mind.

He left on his voyage, a few days out from the Canary Islands, the sea went to glass, the wind was just gone, the birds could not seen or heard, The men thought they had reached the edge of the world, and they were about to Mutiny, when one of the Captains, told Columbus, pray to God, and the men will be calmed, he Prayed, long and hard, and the winds picked up, and they carried on.

Later again he was faced with strong stormy seas, that the men thought would sink them, he prayed to God, again, and according to Orson Hyde, Angle Moroni appeared and was with him, and calmed the troubled elements.

To me this is one of the most inspiring stories, as many times he could have turned back, or not risked his life again, but with Faith, and trust in go, he Pressed Forward with faith, and he taught us the next key, pray at all steps along the way, when it gets hard, Pray harder, for as Nephi said. “The Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.” (1st Nephi, 3:7)

The 3rd time is the story of the Sons of Mosiah, they could have been Kings, but they chose to Go Forward with Faith, and became great missionaries, and from them we learn about the 3rd key about pressing forward with faith, fasting, and strengthening each other

Alama 17:9-10

9 And it came to pass that they journeyed many days in the wilderness, and they fasted much and prayed much that the Lord would grant unto them a portion of his Spirit to go with them, and abide with them, that they might be an instrument in the hands of God to bring, if it were possible, their brethren, the Lamanites, to the knowledge of the truth, to the knowledge of the baseness of the traditions of their fathers, which were not correct.

"10 And it came to pass that the Lord did visit them with his Spirit, and said unto them: Be comforted. And they were comforted."

These verses show us, that fasting, with a purpose helps strengthen our faith, and will help us gain the companionship of the Holy Ghost, and with stronger faith and the companionship of the Holy Ghost, we can help strengthen each other, and with the help of fellow members of the Church, we can make it through the hard times,

The 4th time, was when Elder Esra Taft Benson, when he toured war torn Europe, post WW2.

He applied each of these keys, when he needed to get somewhere he started walking, some times he would walk 5 minutes, and someone would pick him up, sometimes 10 miles, but he always was getting his "feet wet", next he taught us about prayer, as he would pray to get a jeep to cross a river and get to the town 30 miles away, or he would pray for the saints, but he was always praying, and the he also taught us about fasting, he saw how poor the saints were, and many times fasted, and prayed to get to them, and when he got to them he strengthened them,

Many times giving them much needed physical supply's, and many more times, spiritual supply's of faith, and truth in God, following his example, and applying each of these 3 steps, we can go forward with faith, by getting our feet wet, or doing our part, praying, and fasting, and strengthening each other, and we can “Go forward with faith”, and endure to the end.

Dad's Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is the basic recipe that my mother, Dorothy, and her mother, "Effie," used to make chocolate chip cookies. They were inclined to use half butter and half Crisco, and we use pure butter. Yes, these were the cookies that were in the tins that my grandma would serve us up from, and send home with us. My husband added the coconut and chopped nuts. This makes a chewy chocolate chip cookie. For a crunchier cookie just cook them longer.
Basic Ingredients:

4 ½ cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups butter OR 1 cup Crisco (shortening) + 1 cup butter
1 ½ granulated sugar
1 ½ brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2- 4 eggs (less eggs make cake like cookies, 2 works great!)
1 cup chocolate chips (or just eyeball to desires amounts!)

Optional Ingredients:

1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:

Sift and set aside flour, baking soda, and salt

Cream together butter (OR 1 cup Crisco + 1 cup butter), granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and 2- 4 eggs. Important Note see end note on cookie quality and type of fat used.

Combine flour mixture, liquid mixture, and eggs.

Add chocolate chips
Optional- Add chopped walnuts and coconut.

Drop by rounded teaspoon on un-greased cookies sheet. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes
Important Note: on butter, margarine, and shortenings...For health, taste, and product quality, I use pure butter. In this note I will focus on product quality. I will deal with nutrition in separate posts. I do not recommend margarine as many margarines have changed over the years and have more water and air whipped into them, and this changes the recipe, when cooked. If you have to use margarine or another brand of shortening, you will have to experiment, usually adding a 1/4 cup or more of flour. Even butter sometimes has problems if carregenan is added to thicken the butter instead of milk fat. Thoughcarregenan is a natural thickener, it does not act the same in recipes.

Liberal VS Conservative

Someone asked me, if you had a Liberal and a Conservative town, give each the same amount of resources, who would do best, so each town has 1000 people each, these are not in the USA, but in the middle of some far off land.

Liberal Week 1: Build Courthouse, hospital, school, homeless shelter, and food kitchen, and Take everything from everyone, give everyone the same amount of things.

Conservative Week 1: Build houses, church/school/town hall, and start plowing the land, cutting down trees, and starting business, thank God, for the land that has been given them.

Liberal Week 2: Vote, turn into a Communism, Establish free health care, gun control, free education, start up a police force, to "keep the peace" TAKE MORE Money from those who earn it, and take all money again and give to everyone same amount, 10% of the people think hey why do I need to work, we all get the same amount of stuff, so they stop.

Conservative Week 2: The Peoples Representatives, vote, and they start working on a constitution for their constitutional republic, freedom of religion, and they Establish Capitalism, as their economic system, they help the poor, and thank God for what they have, and they help the poor raise some barns, and start raising farms.

Liberal Week 3: Cap and Trade is passed, all home building with wood is stopped, all heating of homes by burning Coal/Wood is outlawed, and raising Cattle is banned, they sell their Cattle to some Conservatives to help pay for this, They take all the money from everyone, pay for some public works, and then give everyone same amount as everyone else, those who work hard start getting mad 10% of the people sneak out of the town to visit their Conservative friends.

Conservative Week 3: Praise God, for what they have, finish building a sawmill, and continue work on a constitution, they help the poor, and they start to teach them how to work, and hire them to help cut down trees, and cut them into logs, so they can build their own homes, the Dairy farmers, are starting to make a lot of Cheese, and Milk, the Liberal town starts buying it.

Liberal Week 4: They are importing Cheese, and Milk, from the Conservative now city, life is good, everyone is happy, But to Preserve the environment, they take all the money from everyone, and put embargoes on anything making Co2, no more Cheese, or Milk, thy also build themselves a Statue of their great leader, they have a shortage of houses still, so they spend more money, to build more homeless shelters for those who don't have a home, they also notice they are hunger they start a soup kitchen, they then give all money back to everyone, making sure they all have the same amount, the 10% working the hardest, is mad their money is being wasted, the leave for the Conservative City now, unemployment is up to 20% because why work when you don't get anything ?

Conservative Week 4: Start realizing they need for water transportation, for their booming Cheese and Milk industry to export, a group of people start digging a canal, so they can travel faster, they start buying sheep, and hire a sheriff to keep the peace, he hires some deputy's, they start work on a public courthouse, in comes the townspeople from the Liberal town, the Conservative townspeople welcome them into their homes, and hold a barn and house raising for their new friends, they have food, and fun.

Liberal week 5: They start to Unionize, people only have to work 3 days a week, only 5 hours a day, and get every 5th week off, People have stopped working, business is shutting down, they are not longer producing anything, people are mad, and start to protest, people are still leaving, to stop this, they build a wall around their town, for protection, and don't let anyone in or out, they don't have fresh food, because there is no reason to work, why work for what you can't keep, this wall is built by taking money from everyone, and then giving back to everyone same amount. 5% more of people escape, 1% is killed trying to escape, and employment is now at 34% government employment is at 40% with 16% of their people gone.

Conservative Week 5: The privet group of people building the canal finish, the City holds a party, as they can now move their goods down the river, they start exporting goods, and importing fine goods, the poor now all have homes, they helped build, and now are learning a trade, so they can feed their families, more from the liberal town show up, they ask if they want help building their home, they say NO.

Liberal week 6: The wall is built, around the town, yet people keep trying to escape, 5% more get free, with 7% died trying, there is talk of the fine goods of the Conservative city has, and how they have good food, and a warm home, in the liberal town production is at an all time low, unemployment has dropped to 20% the government has employed now 50% they are busy building the wall, and giving out the free healthcare, which has now all but died out, as no one is willing to go to school to learn to be a doctor, winter is coming, and the town is now walled in, and has no means to heat their homes, but the Politicians have an Idea, they sent 1 to each home, to heat it will all their hot air. Riots start braking out, demanding their food, and cars, and warm homes, which have been promised, 3% of their people are taken and put in jail, with a warm bed, and 3 hot meals a day.

Conservative week 6: The new poor from the liberal are starting to protest that they do not get free food, or healthcare, or welfare, they demand it, and claim it is a human right! They also demand they ban guns, and remove God from their lives, The Conservative townspeople say, you must work for your survival, and we will not ban guns, or remove God, we will help get you started, but you will not be free loaders, But they refuse, they have been so use to not working, they protest to government to take the money from every, and force the evil rich to help the poor. They refuse, they say if the poor refuse to work, they will not get welfare from the government, BUT if they so wish, a group of Business men, have provided the money to take them all back to liberal town, they take up the offer.

Liberal week 7: The liberals welcome the new workers back, the bread lines, are miles long, for only 10 loafs of bread, they see the Conservative town's canal, is working great, so they put all the unemployed to work, building their own version, there is no food, and people start to riot, all hell is starting to brake loose.

Conservative week 7: The cheese, and milk markets, and the trade has brought an increase to wealth, some people want to build a new road from the city, to another major city, some farmers, now want to buy some sheep, and the Canal group owners want to build another canal, a Group of Business men, start a bank, and start loaning money to these people, a new road starts being built, and a Canal, and many farmers now have many sheep, the Town hall/Church/School wishes to have bell, they have a city wide Bake off, with all proceeds going to the bell fund, and extras to the help the poor farmers with loans.

Liberal week 8: The people are now all uneasy, the canal is done, but with nothing to trade, it is useless, and riots start braking out, the liberal town is not making anything, the government now employs over 60% of the people, they need more money, they send a group to get some, they go to the Conservative town, they find the bank, they ask the bank to give them the money free, the bank refuses, but says they will let them barrow it, but them need to have something to back it with, so they go to the group of men building the Canal, and road, and say we need some proof we can pay the bank, can we send people from the liberal town to work on the road, and canal, and you vouch for us ? they agree, the town sends 20% of its people to work on the road, and canal, they work for 5 hours, they start to complain, this is to hard, and they refuse to work, and go home, the town has already spent the money, and everyone has nice food, and the mock the Conservatives, for having to work, they eat like kings!

Conservative week 8: The road is almost finished, and the new canal, is almost done, the farmers, that got a loan from the bank, to buy some sheep, have started to pay it back, with the new wool industry booming, they offer a job to any poor left in the town, which there is very few of, they finish building the Canal, and road, the canal company, now barrows more money, to start building river boats, and pay back their loans, more trading is happening, they start up an ashery, they eat well.

Liberal week 9: money is gone, food is gone, people are rioting, and nothing is getting done, crimes happening left and right, nothing can be done, they are headed to a bloody revolt.

Conservative week 9: The local Blacksmith expands his shop, via a loan from the banks, a group of farmers have set up inns, along the road, and now set up a post service, the local school, in the church, hires another teacher, their kids go to school for 8 hours a day during the winter, and most don't go during the summer, a fire brakes out, at the saw mill, it burns to the ground, the towns people, help him rebuild it, there are problems, many problems, but they get settled easily.

Liberal week 10: It is cold, there is no warm houses, because they can't burn fuel to keep warm, the masses brake out into a revolt, the Leadership has been taken by the masses, and are executed in he public square, the news spreads, they are to begin anew, they stat to tar down the wall, and they notice on the other side, is the Conservatives, helping to tar down the wall, the Conservatives help the towns people build new homes, and they start to have food again.

Conservative week 10: they hold a party with their liberal friends, they start to help them rebuild, in the Conservative town they go on with life as normal, and you work for you food, you work for your house, you work for your pay, life is enjoyable.

In the end, we learn that the liberals fail because. 1st, people will not work for what they can't keep. 2nd, if the government does not give it, it does not mean the privet sector won't provide. 3rd, If you have 2 places, one with Socialism, and the other with Capitalism, those in the Socialism system, will flee the Socialist run system, for the Capitalism, because in the, Socialism there is no chance, no hope, no change, your kids can't have a better life, no matter how much you work, whereas with a Capitalist system, if you work harder, your kids can have a better life. 4th, Liberal lack of logic, people claim people are so evil, they won't help the poor, YET they are so good they will GIVE EVERYTHING away? 5th, in the Capitalist system, people take care of others, they won't pamper the lazy so they don't have to work, but they know, a happy worker is a better worker.

Standing up for Liberty and Freedom!

(This is a talk I gave in Church this past sunday)

In an alternate to everyone else, I asked Brother Beard if I could give a talk, so there was no dread in seeing his number on my caller ID, but there was some, when he told me it was going to be 10 minutes long, but it was one of the last 5 things I need for my Duty to God.

I was assigned to pick a story in the book of Mormon and tell how it has effected my life, and I looked at it, it was very hard to pick just one, I could have my talk be about Nephi and Lehi leaving Jerusalem, or about the Sons of Helaman, or Alma the elder fleeing into the wilderness, or about the Mormon and Moroni and the last stand of the Nephites, as all of these have helped influence my life.

But I noticed one recurring story line throughout the book of Mormon, bondage, and freedom, so I thought this is what I will give my talk on, Liberty, and Freedom, so I looked for some quotes from the brethren, I first found this one by President Ezra Taft Benson from Conference Report April 1965

No greater immediate responsibility rests upon members of the Church, upon all citizens of this Republic and of neighboring Republics than to protect the freedom vouchsafed by the Constitution of the United States." (Cited in Jerreld L. Newquist, Prophets, Principles and National Survival [SLC: Publishers Press, 1964], p. 157.) As important as are all other principles of the gospel, it was the freedom issue, which determined whether you received a body. To have been on the wrong side of the freedom issue during the war in heaven meant eternal damnation. How then can Latter-day Saints expect to be on the wrong side in this life and escape the eternal consequences? The war in heaven is raging on earth today. The issues are the same: "Shall men be compelled to do what others claim is for their best welfare" or will they heed the counsel of the prophet and preserve their freedom?

I thought this quote was amassing, this line really stood out to me, “As important as are all other principles of the gospel, it was the freedom issue which determined whether you received a body.”
It made me realize that this issue has been fought over from the beginning, the devil has always wanted to take away our power to choose, and by doing so, our power to grow, and become like God.

A quote like that one, this past year awoke me to what was my responsibility as a member of the church, and as a Citizen of this great country, I found this quote from President Ezra Taft Benson, it says.

No American is worthy of citizenship in this great land who refuses to take an active interest in these important matters. All we hold dear as a great Christian nation is at stake… … Stand up for freedom no matter what the cost. It can help to save your soul – and maybe your country.

It made me realize, that if we do not stand up for our liberty, and to protect this land, we will lose it, and I thought of this verse in 2 Nephi. 1: 7

7 Wherefore, this land is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of Liberty unto them; wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever.

It made me think of Captain Moroni and the Title of liberty, and what those verses in Alma 46 say,

12 And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.
13 And he fastened on his head-plate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land—

This verse hit me a different way, I noticed he was putting on armor, and I though, wow, I never noticed, he is putting on the Armor of God, And also what it says about him, in Alma 48, verses 11 and 17.

11 And Moroni was a strong and a mighty man; he was a man of a perfect understanding; yea, a man that did not delight in bloodshed; a man whose soul did joy in the liberty and the freedom of his country, and his brethren from bondage and slavery;
17 Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.
After I heard these verses for the first time, when I was young, I wished something like that could be said about me, when I was older, he fought for what he believed in, no matter the cost.

When I realized that all throughout the history in our scriptures the same thing is happening, we are fighting for freedom, from the War in heaven till the last days, the devil is and has always tried to takeaway our freedom, for it is what makes us strong, as President Howard W. Hunter said,

What is the real cause of this trend toward the welfare state, toward more socialism? In the last analysis, in my judgment, it is personal unrighteousness. When people do not use their freedoms responsibly and righteously, they will gradually lose these freedoms . . ..
If man will not recognize the inequalities around him and voluntarily, through the gospel plan, come to the aid of his brother, he will find that through “a democratic process” he will be forced to come to the aid of his brother. The government will take from the “haves” and give to the “have nots.” Both have lost their freedom. Those who “have,” lost their freedom to give voluntarily of their own free will and in the way they desire. Those who “have not,” lost their freedom because they did not earn what they received. They got “something for nothing,” and they will neither appreciate the gift nor the giver of the gift.
Under this climate, people gradually become blind to what has happened and to the vital freedoms, which they have lost. (Speeches of the Year 1965-1966, pp. 1-11, “The Law of the Harvest.” Devotional Address, Brigham Young University, 8 March 1966.)

I think this is a very important matter, and those who fall on the wrong side, need to remember Bensons words,
How then can Latter-day Saints expect to be on the wrong side in this life and escape the eternal consequences? The war in heaven is raging on earth today. The issues are the same: "Shall men be compelled to do what others claim is for their best welfare" or will they heed the counsel of the prophet and preserve their freedom?

If do not stand up for freedom, and do all that we can do, to fight for it, we fall on the wrong side, this is not something that we can stand idle, and it will fix itself, we must become active, as President David O. McKay said.

Next to being one in worshiping God, there is nothing in this world upon which this Church should be more united than in upholding and defending the Constitution of the United States! (”The Enemy Within” 34)

We must be united; we need to stand together like Spencer W. Kimball said.

The only way we can keep our freedom is to work at it. Not some of us. All of us. Not some of the time, but all of the time.
So if you value your citizenship and you want to keep it for yourself and your children and their children, give it your faith, your belief, and give it your active support in civic affairs. (TSWK 405; from an address given at the Rotary Club, Salt Lake City, UT, 8 Jun 1976)

We must unite, for if united we stand, we can do all things, with the help of our God, we can be like Moroni, we can, and must stand, together for our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children

In closing, I would like to bare my testimony I know God has reserved this land from the foundation of the world for the righteous, and if we follow him we can be blessed, but we must not forget the words of the Prophets, we must stand up, and stand up together! If we do what God has commanded us, through his Prophets we will be able to make it through the hard times to come.

So it came out today, http://www.gallup.com/Home.aspx the majority of us now officially do not like the job Obama is doing, the poll on my blog his grade came in at.

So about 55% think he is doing a BAD job, and about 45 From Good to a so so job.

As I was talking with some family today one of them said something about how Oprah is ending her show, one said it makes no sense, why would shy end it in 2011, then someone pointed out, maybe Obama is going to have Oprah be his VP, they then said, it makes sense, his ratings are dropping, and they need a Liberal Palin, Oprah is perfect for the job.

This made me think, well she is stepping down 2011, right before the 2012 elections, and with his ratings dropping like a rock, and people looking more and more to Palin, and other Conservatives, they need someone to rally the women, and I saw this clip, and thought, maybe she will, she won him Iowa, maybe he is betting on her tipping the tide.

After watching this, I can see it, she won Iowa, I can see them thinking she will turn the tide, and win the USA, because Obama Biden won't win again, maybe he thinks this will fix it.

Pelosi Care, and the Cancer in Washington DC

Yesterday after noon, the people of the USA came to Washington DC, and made a House Call, to those there who claim to represent us at Washington DC, and demanded of them why, they where still going along with what, the US as a people have said we don't want, the house call came back with a diagnoses, Cancer it is everywhere, and as the people we are the doctors, it is our Duty to remove it, all those who Vote for this Pelosi Care, that come up for reelection, in 2010 need to be removed, and replaced, for this health bill is a house of HORRORS!

A few points that REALLY make me mad.

First, "Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD that the speaker will not allow the final language of the health care to be posted online for 72 hours before bringing the bill to a vote on the House floor, despite her September 24 statement that she was "absolutely" committed to doing so."

I would like to Focus on #18-25, First it says any additional MONEY! "addition to any other amounts" so keep in mind the BILLIONS are on top of other money they will throw at this, if you look at the jumps from 23 to 24, it is a 50% jump, in cost in ONE YEAR, then the next year it is 150% more then then first year, at that rate, this will spire out of control, as is we can not afford the 1,000,000,000 in the first place, let alone the 10s, if not 100s of billions THIS ONE PAGE! will cost our kids.

Third, They have NO RIGHT at all to do this, nowhere does any of our founding documents, does it give the government the right to FORCE all the States to pay for SOCIALIST! healthcare.

Obama Care, the the push to take away our rights for guns.

Free Health Care sounds nice? Does it not? But when you realize that whenever the government says something is free, it means you will pay for it via taxes, and if it something new, more taxes, like most government run things, chances are, 70% will go to overhead, and 30% will go to what you have paid for, but don't be grumpy, and ungrateful, it is free after all!

And now they are talking penalties for those who are overweight (like myself), and those who smoke (not like myself), in theory it sounds good, you should not have to pay for my chooses, and I don't want to pay for those who smoke, or do dumb things, because that would not be fair. But like all theory's there is a catch, right after they said they will penalize those who are overweight, and smoke, the commissioned a study by the NIH to review guns effect of health, so how long is it till they find guns are "bad for your health" and the penalize you for them, and who knows it could be a 10$ penalization, or a 10,000$ penalization!

So it would not be an out right taking away of rights, but as Cass sunstein has said, they will nudge us!

This is Cass Sunstein, one of the men, Obama has appointed to be a Czar, remember Obama as said he thinks, and has the same Ideals as these people!

But this next thing pissed me off, made me mad as hell, I thought, if they plan to penalize you for being unhealthy, then maybe they will penalize states who have the highest amount of unhealthy people, so I went to look up which ones they were, and why, and this study sickened me.

Wait so now “religious and spiritual activities” are unhealthy? So when do they start penalizing us for that?

This is not even getting into the whole cost of the program, almost 1 TRILLION DOLLARS!

I at first asked, how is thing going to affect the deficit, then Obama came out with this.

“WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Barack Obama on Wednesday promised that any health-care bill approved by Congress won't increase the federal deficit.” (Note this is not this Wednesday, but a few weeks ago)

So then I wondered how it would not increase it, only 3 ways, more taxes, cutting funding to things, and more taxes.

Then Obama came out with this little gem.

“Reform will strengthen these businesses and the economy”

How does more taxation, strengthen the economy or any business ?

In the end, we don't have the money, and many people know this, yet Obama still pushes his Obama care, even thought we couldn’t afford it, HE IS SPENDING US INTO SLAVERY FOR GENERATIONS TO COME!

And I for one think, we are TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY!!

I think this sums up the fighting spirit of America, and that is why Obama will fail, we have fought many wars to give others but a glimpse of our liberty, does he really think he will be able to overthrow ours?

So a few weekends ago, I went to California, we stopped at Jack in the Box in Las Vegas, we walked in, and they asked us to order on this thing (Jake a good friend is in the picture), I almost asked, do I need to put a quarter, and pull a leaver, and it will spin and give me 3 random things I can buy. It did not tho, it was kinda creepy tho, as we were eating, some homeless dude came up to the front of the store, reached in the trash, pulled out a cup, and went inside, refilled it, and then left.

Needless to say, the others thanked me for convincing them not to get drinks.

This is a picture of my Nephew James, he was sick, I woke up to him coming in the front room, at 5AM, heard me snoring, and said Mommy ? daddy ? poked me, and turned over, and he wigged out, I said hi Jamie, and he was like AHHHHHHHHHHH, Tiffany, was only a few steps behind him, and got him before he woke anyone up.

This is the wonderful breakfast Tiffany made us, to celebrate, my brothers Adams Birthday (he was the one that drove me and Jake down to Tehachapi)

On the morning of September the 12th, 2009, we the people came to Washington DC, to show those who are there to represent us we ARE SICK OF THEM IGNORING US!

Some sources say over the course of the day 1-2 Million people attended this rally to show the Government, we are sick of the Government spending that is out of control; they are spending our children into slavery to debt! And we will no longer stand for such atrocity! They plan to tax us to death! we will NOT ALLOW THAT!

Remember what happened the last time a tyrannical government was overstepping his bounds? And taxed us like there was not tomorrow?

What happened then is happening now, but this time, because of the founding fathers we have the chance to evade a war and the showers of lead, and the rivers of red!

Because of the powers the people hold, Obama is right on one thing, YES WE CAN overthrow this corrupt government, it reminds me of the speech in independents day (Movie).

"We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive!"

Patriots around the nation are waking up, and realizing all is not well, there is a cancer in Washington DC, and it needs removal.

Fire lighters or Fire fighters ?

This is a short summery of Tom Holmoe, talk at the past years education week talk.

He basically comes out and says, everyone can be broken up into 2 groups, those who are fire fighters, and fire lighters.

He then explained, that a fire fighter, is someone that is negative, and always putting out the fire inside of others, and a fire lighter is people who inspire, and try to help others become the best they can.

He gives an example of this, what does these to pictures have in common ?

They are both voiced by James earl Jones, he has become one of the most successful voice actors of all time, but he was not always good a speaking.

When he was born his Mississippi, his father left before he was born, and as he grew up, people made fun of him, to the point were he would not talk, he went through school never, or almost never talking, one of his teachers, noticed this, and she also noticed his poetry was very good, so she asked him to recite one in front of the class, she said you will do great, I believe in you, will you do it ? he said no.

A week or two later, he turned in his next piece of poetry, and his teacher said, I don't think you wrote this, the only way I will believe that you wrote this is if you come to the front, and recite it to the class, he walked to the front, and recited it, and everyone clapped, and from the point forward he talked, and became the voice of the star wars, and may other shows.

Tom, then pointed out, what do you think his world would have been like if his teacher was not a fire lighter ? but a fire fighter ?

He then talked about friendship, and how we need to build friendships with others to help light fires, he challenged each of us to go and befriend someone, and help light the fire of someone that seams down.

Next he talked about Akeelah and the Bee, and how it was one of the 10 shows he always watches before football season starts,and how it shows friendship, and fire lighting, I don't know the other 10 movies, but he talked about it two years ago, so look at the very bottom for a link.

He then challenged all of us to be fire lighters, and strive to look for the good, and NEVER put down, he said he wished everyone would be fire lighters, but sadly many of the fans, and members of he media are not.

What are some of the goals of the football program, Win the MWC, that's it.

After the class I went up and asked him some questions, with some other people. (Sorry I did not get to all the questions, people asked me to ask him)

Q. Do you think BYU and Utah could join the Pac10 ?
A. I would love for us to join, but I don't see it happening any time soon.
Q. 5 years ?
A. I don't see it in the next 7-10 years.

Q. The first place team in the MWC goes to the LV bowl to play the 5 placed team in the Pac10 isn't that a little degrading ?
A. Yes, we are working on getting some big name bowls for the MWC, but many of them renew their contracts at the END of this session, so we need the whole MWC to do good this year.

Q. Ask him how many MWC Presidents currently support adding Boise State?
A. I can't tell you how many of the AD do, or don't, it is the AD not the Presidents.
Q. Can you give us any hint ?
A. about 50%

A. Well..... I can't answer that, but I think we should add another team to the MWC because 10 is a better number then 9, (he then winked at me, I asked this one.)

So I have done a new poll, last on got deleted my bad =( but from the last time I checked, it was something like 40% said swine flu would die out and be nothing. 20% said it would be bad, but not very bad. 2% said it what is swine flue ? 10% said worse then Spanish flu, and 10% said pandemic, but not as bad as 1912.

This new Poll, is grading how Obama has done, basicilly A is awesome, B is good, C is Ok D is really bad, and F is IMPEACH HIM!

Constitution Day Tea Party, Now is the time to stand up!

The U.S. Constitution is literally the best in the world. Divinely inspired, it has been the foundation for the creation of more than 80 other constitution around the world.

With the full restoration of the Constitution as the rule of law and the Republic of the United States of America almost all problems facing America, governmentally speaking, will go away.

Many ask what good tea parties can possibly serve. In my opinion, they hold a 3-fold purpose:

One: To help other conservatives realize that they are not a lone voice in a liberal wilderness. It gives them strength, courage and support they may not have had prior to attending a tea party.

Two: Informs those who have not been politically active as to what is happening to our nation and how to become active. On July 4th we told the attendees of the Orem tea party about the Patrick Henry Caucus as well as several other sites/organizations who heard tea partiers in April (where we protested big government in the rain, wind, snow and sleet) and took action.

Three: Helps those who attend understand the difference between a republic and a socialist nation and why it is so dangerous. It helps them to understand that we must unite across the nation to restore the U.S. Constitution as the rule of law.

There may be other wonderful things that happen at these tea parties, but these are what I've noticed the most.

Please, do not weary of these events as they are gathering a momentum Washington D.C. never could have predicted. Dallas, TX had 37,000 Texans attend the Dallas/Fort Worth tea party.

Keep the momentum going and mark September 17th, Constitution Day, on your calendar. It will be a night of inspiration and motivation as we celebrate and demand the return of the U.S. Constitution as the full rule of law.

The Constitution is literally hanging by a thread . . . we must stand up, speak up and make a difference.

So today I turned 18, I can now vote against Obama in 2012, I have been really busy with life the past few months sorry for the lack of updates, this next week I am going on a week long camp out, I will get lots of pictures, and I will upload them, more later, cya all.

4th of July Patriot Day Tea Party

Summer Camp, 2009, Zions, Bryce Canyon, and the Grand Canyon

So for our Summer Camp, this year we went down to Zions, Bryce Canyon, and the Grand Canyon, the First day we went to Bryce, I went in the RV, that once of the people coming brought, here are some pictures from the first day.

After going to Bryce, and doing a hike we where all really sleepy, so most of us slept, I just took pictures of those sleeping.

Then the first night, we got to Kanab, to the house we where staying at, and I wanted to go to sleep fast, but the others did no want to, so they talked, and I would say GO TO BED! and then FLASH as I took a picture, and they would all go my eyes.

Then the next day we went to THE GRAND CANYON, we went to the north rim, had some fun, and then we ate lunch.

On the way home, we went and collected wood, (we got a permit) in AZ, and then went back to the house we where staying at, and cut it.

The wood pile, A kid named Dallin, and me, Cut almost all the wood, in under hour and a half.

Done with Service.

OK after we went to the Grand Canyon, and cut the wood, I got a blister, so the next day I went around Zions bare foot, and then on the final day, I stayed at the house, and cooked/cleaned, and we had the famous Milk Can Stew.

10 minute talk and Seminary Graduation.

This is how I wanted my talk to look like maybe…….. (I did not have enough time lol)

I have been asked to give a talk by Brother Beard, my topic is, how seminary has helped me understand the scriptures better.

I would like to start out with a quote from President Gordon B. Hinckley”Our great program of Church education moves forward. … We urge all for whom it is available to take advantage of it. We do not hesitate to promise that your knowledge of the gospel will be increased, your faith will be strengthened, and you will develop wonderful associations and friendships”

The first way it helped me understand the scriptures better, was by helping me develop, the habit of ready my scriptures everyday, when I started out seminary, I had brother burr, it was an interesting experience, I had never been to seminary before, so I was nervous, and had no clue what to expect, it was an awesome class, we would talk about what we read the past days, and he really talked about how we need to read our scriptures everyday, which I have tried to do every day now.

The next way it helped me understand the scriptures better, was in Brother Harris class, where for scripture mastery, we wrote out each of them from memory, and the would check to see how close it was to it, and it helps so much, we you look, and think, why was this word, used, and he also helped with explaining part of the book of Mormon, and all around helping use better to understand what, and why the words they used where used.

The next way it helped me understand the scriptures better, was right before I started the Church history, part of seminary, I was able to go back east, with my family, and visit many of the places talked about the fallowing year, but even without that, my seminary teachers where awesome, and found pictures, and I was able to help explain to others about the places, which is one of the greatest things about seminary, others helping you, and you helping others.

The next way it helped me understand the scriptures better, was when I had one of my favorite teachers, Brother Lowe, one class after we sang the opening hymn rather slowly, and not with any passion, he opened up to, (Bookmarked Read from D&C)
D&C 25:12 12 For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads.

He said, you can sing better then that, I know you can, and from then on, the hymns have been more important, to me, because he helped point this verse out to me. Later on that year, someone had a question, “If there is a Heavily father, is there a Heavily Mother?” and he said open up to hymn number 292. We turned to it, and he said lets sing it, after we song it, he repeated the third verse, (Read from Hymn book)

3. I had learned to call thee Father,
Thru thy Spirit from on high,
But, until the key of knowledge
Was restored, I knew not why.
In the heav’ns are parents single?
No, the thought makes reason stare!
Truth is reason; truth eternal
Tells me I’ve a mother there.

And then said, there is your answer, the hymns many times, carry a lot of the doctrine of the church, and that is why we start class with a hymn, it can help teach us, about the truths we are about to learn.

A week before conference, we had a lesion, and during it, some of my class mates, where talking about how the where feeling as if, they could not go on, and how there where near giving up, and it just felt as if, all the commandments where imposable, and he shared this quote with us.

" . . . Everyone in the Church who is on the straight and narrow path, who is striving and struggling and desiring to do what is right, though [he] is far from perfect in this life; if he passes out of this life while he's on the straight and narrow, he's going to go on to eternal reward in his Father's kingdom" (The Probationary Test of Mortality, devotional address, Salt Lake Institute of Religion, Jan. 10, 1982, 8–9).

It has really stuck to me, and the fallowing week, Elder L. Tom Perry, gave a talk about The Plan of Salvation, in which he quoted the same quote, I had heard the week before, it was like a reassuring presence it was true.

The next lesion was, when I was in Sister Gunnell’s class, it was the year they told us, that they would have no grades, only pass and fail, and to get pass, all you have to do is, come. In sister Gunnels class, to encourage us to read the scriptures, she has something called, the alters, and it was a poster on her wall in her classroom, she had one for each class she taught, and if 80% of the people in the class read their scriptures, for a day, she would let us color it in, we where her B4 class, as we worked on it, we got really far, and finished one, what really stood out to me, was out of her 6 classes, 4 of them, after the first term, only had 4-5 stones colored in, meaning, that when the kids where told, you don’t have to read for a grade, they stopped, and did not read, this really hit hard, made me think. Do I just read for seminary? Or am I in it for the right reasons.

The next way it helped me understand the scriptures better, was from my next two seminary teachers, brother Frost, and Brother Johnson, it was attitude, and what stuck first was in brother Frosts class, he asked how we where doing in our reading, and someone said, well I have quit, everyday I don’t read life is easier, yet when I read everything is harder, he then said, well Satan does not need to try as hard when you don’t read, when you read he has to try harder, and then Brother Johnson, at first when I had his class, two thoughts went flying in my mind, first, this guy is a freak, and second do I really want to be in a class when 3 people from my ward, 1 of which I kinda like, but I remembered something that my sister told me, when I had a different brother Johnson, a few years before, “Your in the class your in, for a reason, find it and do it, God has is hand in it, so don’t transfer, it is like saying you know more then God.” So I stayed, and well, I love this class, and was able to have a lot of fun, and then he asked us to do a Thou art the Christ, project, thought long and hard, and as I was reading the scriptures, I came up with my plan, and I drew closer to God doing so.

The next way it helped me understand the scriptures better, was, teaching from the scriptures, as many of you know, this past semester, I have helped with the special needs class, at first, when I was asked, I was thinking, no way, I don’t want to waste my last semester, not learning anything, I am not sure now I could have been more wrong, it has been one of the most faith building, and charity building classes I have ever had, let alone, the fact it has helped me so very much, in preparing for my mission, in this class, to help the special needs kids, my teacher, sends all of us home each day with a photo copy of the scripture we will be reading the next day, and asks us to do two things with it, first, mark every time it says God or Jesus, or any of their other names, to help them realize how much God cares, and how he is always there, also many times, they will say something, and you will look at them, and wonder how they got that, and you did not, it is a very humbling experience, and then I am able to help, teach them by the scriptures, and explain things so that they can understand, which brought me to the knowledge, it does not have to be complicated to be right, sometimes the simplest things, are the most profound.

In closing, I would like to challenge each of the Young men, and women of our ward, go to seminary, be an example, you won’t regret it, and remember with all things dealing with the sprit, what you get out of it, reflects how much you put in, if you treat it like free time, you will only get a little out, but if you treat it as time to learn what God wants, then you will learn many things. I would also encourage all the young men, and any of the Young Women, to help with the special needs class, it will help you prepare for your mission, and teach you a lot about being like Jesus, it is a great leaning experience.

I would like to bare my testimony I know seminary is something God wants us to do, and the Church is true, and God loves us, in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

Then that night, (The 17th,)I had seminary graduation, got there 40 minutes before it started, and they said, we know this is last minute, but we are going to sing a song, we then practiced, and then at the end, sang As sisters is Zion, and Army of Helaman, I will upload some pictures later.

Youth Conference part 3, Eagle Project.

Sorry it took so long to update, but here is the last part of my Stake youth conference story.

After the dance, and the fireside, and getting to bed, I woke up many times that night with allergies, once morning came, I was sleepy still, but they said, "HEY, you guys have 5 minutes to get your stuff packed and to the truck, or your carrying it down the parking lot" so I rolled out of bed, and got everything packed and ready to go, and then headed down to the lodge, for breakfast, I had cold Pizza, and day old root beer, because I did not want the breakfast burritos, after which, they told everyone from 9:00-11:00 there where going to do service, and they called the 10 of us, that had our eagle projects ready, and we came up, said how many people we needed, and then went to work.

At the very start, work was very slow, of repairing the amphitheater, we started taking off the boards, and cleaning them, and when we went to put them back, someone had messed the order up, long story short, we had 5 rows, and 10-15 sections of 3 boards each, and we got the first section done, at 10:00, and at that point the young women of my ward show up, asking how can we help, and I was thinking, ok, I was told I could have 20 people work on this, and I have 24, and now 10 Young Women, I said "I am sorry but I already have enough people" they said "we came up here, to help you, are you really going to turn us down ?" I was like hmmm, and I gave them some busy work, and they went to it, about 11:00 we where half way done with the first row, and one of the stake leaders came up to me, and said, time is up, and I was like can we finish the first row, he was like you got 30 minutes, I asked around, and found extra equipment, and then we got to work, moving really fast, we got the last few sections done, and got the first row finished.

The whole stake by that time, had filled the amphitheater, and I was like, this is not going to get done, no way no how, but I only thought this, mean time, the stake Young Mens president, came out, and said, "we are now going to have 3 mini classes taught by some of the youth, on the SYC (Stake youth committee) about all a wide range of topics", they talked about that for a minute, and then said, "brake", I went to my leaders, and they said, "what now ? your in charge" I was thinking, if we all left it would not get done, so I said, "maybe all those who are willing stay and help ?" and one of them kindly pointed out, "maybe you should support the stake with the classes, and we work again after the classes ?" I was like, ok, that sounds good, I will try to get some people who are willing to help, instead of playing the games, after lunch, and we will try to get this done, they said sounds like a plan, but run now to class, I then started to go to class, and I looked back, and my heart melted, the leaders, knew it would not get done, if everyone left, so in the hot sun, so my two leaders, and 3-5 others, stayed and worked.

I went to a class on Charity, we talked about many things, but one thing that stuck out, was when a friend of mine said, "Charity, for me is common sense, if someone is having a bad day, you help them, if someone is having a hard time, you help them, if a girl is coming to a door, you hold it open for her, if someone needs something you try to help them do it." it really hit me, in my life is Charity common sense, like with my leaders, they knew it would not happen, unless they helped, and went above and beyond, the normal duty's.

The next class I went to was talking about Feeling the Spirit of God in our lives, and how we are the ones that leave the spirit, he does not leave us, but by our actions we choice to leave him, and how not to do so.

The next class was on Discussions, we talked about people we knew that texted all the time, and one of the kids told a story of his teachers daughter, and she got engaged to someone, that she only texted, and how her mom and dad, said one night, put the phones down, and talk face to face, and they tried and could not, the engagement was called off, and now she is married to someone she can talk to, not just text, someone shared the stat, that the average High schooler sent something like 4,000+ texts a month, and how the costs plus time of that is almost like having a part time job, and how we needed to be more thoughtful, in our time.

Once that class ended, I rushed to the amphitheater, and the in that hour, they had done a whole row, and were already started on the next one, I rushed there, and started getting lunch for those who where helping, rushing back and forth, and then after lunch, we where about half way done, and the called us all together, and said, "time for games", and said where they all where, we kept working, by the time the games where over 3 hours later, we where done, and they called us all together, and talked about faith, and one of the stake leaders said, "Now, how many of you really believed this amphitheater would be finished today, before we had lunch?" no one raised a hand, "How many after ?" still none, he then said, "I did not even believe it would get done, I though no way what so ever, but I was wrong, your all sitting on a fixed amphitheater, thanks to Jeremy Goff of the Park second ward" everyone shouted and clapped, and it was cool, He then said something to the effect of, having faith, and good friends, are key ways to help us live right, after the project was done, I looked at my leaders, and they where red, sun burned badly, and someone said, "Brother Allen got stung by a Wasp 5 times by the way" at that point I could not explain how much gratitude I felt for them.

In the end, my project was done, everyone was so happy, and in disbelief, and I was beat, and I also knew what I felt, my leaders felt 10x as bad, that day I learned more about Charity from what I was shown then any other day.

Youth Conference, part 2, Fireside, and sleep

So after the dance, we had a Fireside, where we had the Stake president speak to us, he told us the story of how he met his wife, and how they where engaged within a week of the first date, and how the first time he asked, she already had a date, and the second time also, but the third time, he asked for two dates, the first one, was I believe a date to the BYU football game, of which, he had a car pool, and then it was 1 week later, that they went to a ward party, and on the way home, the other people he was giving a ride to, go another one, so they where alone, and talked, for a few hours, and then he asked her to marry him, and he talked about how she was everything to him, and then turned the time over to her.

She was already crying, then gave a small talk about, the theme scripture, "be thou an example of the believers" after which, all the Young Men went out side, and the stake president, talked about, respecting the Young Women, and if they ever, ask for your help in something righteous, do not turn them down.

Right as it ended, we went out to the fire, to talk, and at that point, two of my friends went to go home, to get something, we talked, and once it was done, we grabbed some mats and walked up to our camp site, at that point it was only me and my friend, Ryan, we talked, and I told him the stories behind the 7 Wonders of the Ancient world.

After which, my two other friends, got back, and we talk, we then had a little group scripture reading time, the story, of Alma, and Zeezrom, and then one of them asked, OK who is your number one ? and I was like number one? and he said, girls, who do you like the most right now, they said theirs, and then it got to my turn, I said Ariel, and one of my friends, said, OK, you keep talking about this Ariel girl, I need to met her someday, and I asked, want to hear the whole story, so I started, by the time I was done, it was 2AM, and I was having my alleges attack, ugh, I just went to sleep.

Basketball in the morning.

So I have started playing basketball in the morning, with the elders again, started on monday, not doing much scoring, as I am trying to get my shot back, and my legs, but as of the past 2 times, I have got 3-4 Blocked shots, and 4+ rebounds, 2 steals, and 5-6 assists, so I have been getting up at 5:30am, on Monday Wednesday, and Friday, once I start scoring, I will be posting everyday I play.

Youth Conference Dance.

On the 8th, I went up to trefoil girls scout camp, with my stake, for stake youth conference, we had dinner, at 5, and then after that, they sent us to our tents, and the young women, to the lodge, to get ready for a dance, when it came time for the dance, the local high school’s, ballroom dance teacher came up, and taught us how to do the cha-cha, after that, the dance started, and as usual, the groups formed, and the dancing was minimal at best, after three songs, our stake young men’s president, which is over all seminaries in Utah County, stopped the music and, said something along the lines of…

“In meetings I have been in, the brethren, have expressed great concern about, overly aggressive young women, and when I say the brethren I mean the quorum of the 12, and the first presidency.”

He then went on to talk about how the girls choice dances have gone up in attendances, in Utah County, and how the boys choice has gone down, he then said part of our duty was to preside, provide, protect, and when we went to dances, and did not ask girls to dance we are not providing, and we also were not doing the basics of, opening doors, when they come asking for help in a righteous thing, helping them, and making sure they are safe, and we are not showing respect, which was in turn making the girls overly aggressive, have to ask, the guys to the dances, and doing things, the guys should be doing to show honor and respect for the young ladies.

He then went on to challenged all the young men, in the stake to ask a girl to dance, every song, and said, talk to her, and get comfortable doing so, you don’t just wake up with these skills one day, when you’re a father, or after you come home from your mission, you need to develop these skills now, and learn how to talk, and get to know people, and one of these ways is at dances, so ask the girls, and girls don't be rude, and say no to the young men trying to be nice.

After that, for the first few songs, they would wait until all they guys had asked girls, and then start the next song, after doing that 2-3 times, it took off, and the songs where being started very soon after one ended, and at the end, the guys had all danced, and the girls also, some that had never danced before had for the first time, been asked, it was really cool.
